DUers not going out tonight - check in!!
I'm not.

Long afternoon at the stores... need a drink but don't dig the bars. If only I had a TARDIS, but they really don't exist, you know... :D

being at home. Even though I work at home, it's still work. NOW I'm ready to kick back and relax!

10. I designed that floor. Oak and cherry. Makes me feel good when
someone comments on it, and EVERYONE who visits the house for the first time says something.

Thanks, LG.

Really.

29. You ever want hardwood floors installed, find Brazilians. They are both
fast and meticulous, which you don't often find together. At least our crew was.

34. We have hardwood downstairs.
It's cheap though--oak that was given a dark stain, like a cherry, and then given a clear finish. Mexicans did ours, I think. Nothing wrong with their work, ultimately, but we were in a hurry to move in. It was during the Summer, and the floor needed about 3 more coats of clear finish to be really nice. Of course, in humid GA it takes about a week for a coat of clear finish to dry (no joke), and we couldn't wait long enough to get the floors done right.

12. Photoshop? Or a fancy camera;
the type that won't do an automatic shutter-advance, complete with covering parts of the lens so you can do multiple shots and make it look like you're in 5 places at once?

I'm thinking the latter... unless you took multiple separate shots and then made that little montage via Photoshop.

5. Went out during the afternoon to a show. Crappy weather, staying in to
DU and computer game! Yay!

My beloved Maryland Terrapins not only didn't make it into the NCAA hoops tourney, but they were ousted from the lowly NIT tournament by MANHATTAN, in most ignominious fashion, while I watched in horror, working out in the gym earlier today.

Just finished day 2 of a 4-day mediation course. I have to be up and in class by 8:30 AM tomorrow. No fun for me tonight.

17. nobody loves me. I'm a big loser.
I mean, except for my wonderful daughters and my best buddy Chai, the knuckleheaded husky dog.

I'm off in a minute to pick up #1 daughter from friend's house and then we'll all be watching Firefly episodes until we can't stand it anymore.

18. Just ignore me
and my pity party... I hit a fairly big mile marker (four years + and 35,000 posts) spent a while constructing a post that tried to capture highlights of the DU over that time... in an attempt to celebrate with folks... and it is ignored by most... not sure why I bothered... *sigh*

31. thanks...
but tonight I wonder if perhaps I really no longer have a place at the lounge... long time in the coming... changing dynamics and all - which is all cool... just perhaps the time to recognize that when even friends ignore a heartfelt reminiscent post/thread - that perhaps no one is listening ... and one sided conversation seems rather pointless.

Thanks for the comp - it is appreciated. Have relished this place a long time. Just starting to recognize that perhaps this portion of the DU is no longer a place where I fit in... again cool - places grow and change, which is healthy... sometimes perhaps it takes wisdom to realize when the changes no longer allow a fit for one - but does allow a fit for many others ... growing pains and all...

Or perhaps laments from exhaustion and deadlines that I have spent the day trying proscrastinating (though I have worked for weeks on them hence the exhaustion)

21. Me, too. Just lying on the couch in a pile of cats, watching TV.
My feet hurt; I did the Minneapolis antiwar march this afternoon. A good turnout, but my couch-potatoish carcass is suffering from having walked 4 miles, when normally I don't move around much.

32. I was supposed to go to a gathering
but we had a heavy snowfall last night, and this morning...the roads are crazy, even buses are getting stranded in the streets.

My snowbank is taller than my car. A neighbour was digging out, and it was up to his shoulder. (and he's not a short man)

I was so looking forward to going out... x(
