Rented two piss poor movies over the weekend:
"Monster-In-Law" and "Sahara"

M-I-L: every formula in the book. High point: Wanda Sykes
Sahara: every formula in the book. high point: Steve Zahn

The sidekicks are the best parts of both these flicks.

You have been warned.

4. I *wanted* to like it.
But I just couldn't.

Except when Wanda Sykes was onscreen.

2. Kinda liked "Sahara"
quit a bit, though it's no Apocalypse Now or Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure.

High adventure, baby!

3. Finding the McGuffin required a HUGE coincidence.
Until then I was OK with it on its own level (low).

6. Fortunately, I have no interest in either of those movies.
:D

My mom wanted to see Monster-In-Law, but I don't think she ever did.

7. We were scraping the bin at the rental store
There's so little out there that I wanted to see.

I did get "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" last week - I recommend it highly.

8. I have seen both of those offerings
and I had the same response as you

I knew Sahara was going to suck HARD and then I saw them using an airplane to windsurf... HARDER...and then I saw "FLight of the Phoenix" and they looked a lot alike -HARDEST!!!

Monster in Law was a waste of time but I knew that going in.

Recommend
"Wedding Crashers"
"The Ring 2"- you hair will stand on end a couple of times.
thats about it.

11. The soundtrack for Sahara was jarring, too
Buncha 70s songs comin' outta nowhere. It's like the Music Director got wasted one night and started listening to all his college albums.

9. Monster-in-law
Don't you just hate watching a movie for five minutes and already know how it will end? Just another typical "in-law" movie filled a bunch of predictable bad jokes in between the beginning and the end. The wife enjoyed it, I endured it.

High point - Jane Fonda is still looks great :9

20. I thought Saw II was great!
I didn't see the first one but it seems like I really didn't need to.

Saw II was crazy! Had me thinking! Saw crazy stuff in there.

21. Oooh - then you should see the first one
I am not sure if I would have hated Saw II if it hadn't been so disappointing to me compared to the first one.

The thing to keep in mind with me is that I'm really really really averse to gore in movies...so Saw II turned my stomach terribly.

22. Was Donnie Wahlberg
in the first Saw?

Gore and horror don't bother me. I was expecting it to be gruesome and it was.

16. If the high point of M-I-L is Wanda Sykes, I'll definitely pass.
I'll never understand why people think she's funny.

Two words: Jennifer Lopez

And I've soured on Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt books since, I don't remember which one, Clive Cussler at one point brought in as a cameo character....Clive Cussler. I think it was ridiculously egotistical. I have no interest in seeing any of his books turned into movies.

I finally had a chance to see "A History of Violence" over the weekend. I very highly recommend it.

24. Recommendation seconded - "A History of Violence" is an incredible film
Although a part of me wants Cronenberg to have one of his nightmares and do another Videodrome, he's never disappointed. Aside from Fast Company - which I know a lot of genre fans love (& you can't not like John Saxon) - I don't think he's made a bad film. The mind boggles as to what he'd've done if he stayed on board with Basic Instinct 2!
