Kirstie Alley: "The worst possible dilemmas evaporate with Scientology"
Kirstie Alley says:

"I have been in Scientology for over 25 years. In those years I have worked hard to make my dreams a reality. Very few dreams have escaped me and I am extremely thankful now for my successes both professionally and personally. The role Scientology has played in my life has been vital. Without it I simply cannot imagine where I would be right now … I've seen the worst possible dilemmas evaporate with the application of Scientology technology just like magic. But it's not magic, it's Scientology. Easy to understand and apply by anybody, anywhere, anytime. Scientology works!"

The only real question here is why wouldn’t you join scientology. It seems clear by now that if anyone knows the secret to physical and mental health, it's big time Hollywood stars Kirstie Alley, John Travolta and Tom Cruise.

1. 'worst possible dilemmas' - like thinking for oneself?
How's that working for you, girl?

34. Yes, because we are such a bunch of free thinkers aren't we?
So much so that it is quite remarkable how we all seem to think the same. Some coincidence, no?

This is not a defence of Scientology. As far as I can tell that "religion" is simply an elaborate scheme to screw people out of their money or labour.

My point is that most of us have taken shelter of some religion or philosophy or ideology and almost none of us worked it all out from first principles ourselves. There isn't enough time and most of us don't have the intelligence for that. So we accept a system of thought that we find agreeable.

I frequently hear a criticism of the Freepers and dittoheads that "they just repeat mantras given to them," but observe that we only do the same thing ourselves. We have our memes and mantras too, that many repeat unthinkingly.

So with all that in mind, I just think it would be helpful if we could adopt a slightly more humble attitude.

21. LOL. Don't laugh, but I actually do have a subscription
The middle school here sells magazine subscriptions and everything else that I would have subscribed to, I already do.

But that doesn't explain why I renewed it, now does it?

24. ....and was a coke addict...
..all this within that magical 25 years she's been practicing scientology. I could see if she had those problems and then used scientology to overcome those problems. But they all happened AFTER she had already been practicing scientology. So one would think if it actually worked that those things wouldn't have happened in the first place, no?

14. Classic comment from this website
Where was the Scientology tech while Kirstie was stuffing her face and getting FAT? Of course, it was Jenny Craig who helped Kirstie get THIN again. All hail the new church of Jenny Craig!

Just made me chuckle.

29. Right on.
Back in my "christian days" I tried several christian weight loss programs and gained weight. I thought at the time it was satan attacking me, but I just liked to eat too much.

Whatever. Sometimes the physical is physical and spiritual is spiritual, and it is possible to be screwed up in one area and not the other.

Like my daughter reminded me the first time she got a "D" in school, nobody's perfect.

17. Kirstie's not out there criticizing non-scientologists, like Cruise
So I have no problem with her. She's very funny, sometimes, and I always liked her on "Cheers". When she won the Emmy for "Cheers" and said "I want to thank my husband Parker for giving me the big one", I nearly died laughing.

What she's saying is that Scientology works for her. She's not criticizing those who choose a different path. As much as I think Scientology is a fraud and a cult, she has every right to practice it.

19. well all her dreams have come true
why shouldn't she believe? why shouldn't cruise believe? he is an actor many believe is nothing special who was once a beautiful boy but is now an ordinary looking middle aged man and yet still all of his dreams are true and he is a star

why shouldn't travolta believe? again, a famous actor, then when that got old, he was able to step into a pilot's career, then a famous actor again

if you have everything you ever wanted and more, why shouldn't you believe in religion and that god loves you and all works right in the world?

i don't blame them for believing, the ones i can't understand are the ones who don't have shit and still believe

scientology isn't noticeably more idiotic than the judeo-christian religion, the old testament isn't more rational than dianetics, it is just older

so i say she's entitled to say what she thinks and i'm entitled to think she's living in a dream world
