I'm officially a member of the 700 Club

I want to thank my parents for having the presence of mind to spawn me; my wife and my children, but most of all, George Bush, the real reason I drag myself to DU every morning, noon and night. Thank you all for the honor of this prestigious award.

in a VERY conservative community. DH and I are the only Democrats she is ever really exposed to. I think it might be peer pressure. All of her friends are the "spawn" of Republicans, so I guess my daughter feels "different" because she is the only kid with liberal parents. People around here mostly hate liberals and she's becoming aware of that. Shame, isn't it?

In the northern 'burbs of Chicago. The demographics have changed in the 17 years I've lived here. Many dems moving up here from Chicago. Perhaps by the time my kids are old enough to care there will be some measure of sanity here. Good luck, and I'm not leaving until you post 700.

the tide will have turned by the time your daughters are old enough to care about politics (and by the time my daughter is old enough to vote!). When I was growing up it was "all the rage" to have liberal parents. But as luck would have it, my parents were flying-monkey Republicans.

ever see that movie starring Natasha Lyon called "But I'm a Cheerleader!"? If you haven't seen it, try and catch it some time... they play it on IFC once in awhile. Funny movie about a gay high school girl whose parents send her to one of those camps. Your post reminded me of it.
