How many people here work in a Call Center "Cube City" ? (and "lose it"?)
I'm finishing my shift at one right now. The reason why I ask is that today I rarely lose my cool but today I lost it - twice.

First time was when a caller was questioning my integrity and was absolutely insistent that the company I work for was to blame (and then I was to blame) for the problem that happened. I gave a couple of situations out to the caller, and recalled a similar situation that I had. It actually made it worse. It then got personal. I then decided to self-escalate further - the guy somehow disconnected. And all the issue was that he got a recorded telemarketing call that somehow wouldn't disconnect from his phone. Either he has a phone problem or we did. I didn't know, I couldn't know. I told him that I had a time when I had a phone problem and the line wouldn't disconnect and the solution was to unplug the phone.

The other one was when the caller turned the air blue. It was shortly after the other one, I was so narked I threw off my headset, counted to ten, put it back on again... and then addressed the issue - to the satisfaction of the caller.

For reasons of integrity I won't say who I work for in this post, but it's in Greensboro NC, near the Airport...

Mark.
