TSS450PLT infinity speaker system
Does anyhone have or have heard of this system? It looks like a bose system but is far less expensive and is supposed to sound wonderful. I have two floor tower speakers, a central speaker and two surround back speakers but want to give them to daughter as graduation present. Does anyone who owns the infinity system think i will lose in sound quality if i do exchange one for the others? Dont want to go out and spend too much on another system - ill need the money so i can move to another planet if the repubulicans stay in power in the next election!!! thanks

1. I've always been a fan of Infinity car audio
and they do make nice speakers. Only drawback that I see to these is their sensitivity/efficiency. How many watts are you pushing (continuous)?

Looks like a good deal for the $350ish that seems to be the going rate for them.

8. Is that 75 watts RMS?
Either way, if that's per channel, you're probably gold.

I've got Yamaha in my house, but as I said, I like Infinity. Give it a listen, and if you likes, buy. But buy from a place with a return policy. Infinity is HK, after all. It's up to listener appeciation...

4. No highs? No lows? Must be Bose!
I'm a big fan of Phase-Technology PC series speakers (http://www.phasetech.com).

5. Same here.
How something that drops a huge chunk of frequency response can be marketed so successfully will never cease to amaze me.

(Note: There's a reason that the demos in stores are set up to either place the speakers within a couple of feet of your head, or in specially designed demo rooms like they have at Fry's in California).

3. Well, to be honest, I've never been a fan of Bose, due to the fact
that they drop a huge chunk of the mid-range and try to sell low mid-range as "bass".

If they still made them, I'd send you to www.av123.com and recommend their Rocket Tyke system (which is what I have right now, and it utterly destroys any Bose system I've ever heard). HOWEVER, their new X-Series is supposed to sound even better yet (although the speakers are larger, they also have a gorgeous finish).

I'm not familiar with that particular Infinity model, in my experience, Infinity is kind of hit or miss. They have made some great speakers in the past, and they've made some real stinkers. The best suggestion I can make is find a place where you can listen to them and then decide.

10. I have Infinity speakers in my home system.
They sound great, even attached to my 25 year old Technics amp.

Truth be told, though, I seldom use my system anymore. The Monsoon system attached to my PC, connected to my iPod, is my usual source of music these days.
