Chico Hamilton !

A combination of circumstances has place a record player nearby and a vinyl (duh) copy of "Passin' Thru" (1962) by The New Amazing Chico Hamilton Quintet. (Guitar + trad jazz quartet, at this point in time, at least....)

Any of you DU jazzers know this disc? Some wicked shit, IMVH-non-jazzpert-O. A "jam"-like vehicle for flute on here called called "Lady Gabor" is *killing* me. :smoke:

1. I heard it as a kid...

...Dad was a huge jazz fan, and he liked Chico...but I was damned young in '62. *Chic Chic Chico* and *The Gamut* are really more in my memory...that was the first time I ever heard Charles Lloyd--remember him?...
