I have been a member here for almost 2 years and still people are welcoming me to the site. While I appreciate that, I guess it's time for you to get to know me a little.

Not too much more in pay, but it's a great ego boost. I'm proud of him!

2. Well damn
You are going to have to tell us a little about yourself. We're not talking bank account numbers here, just a little info on who you are and what you like to do- besides DU.

What brand of vodka are you drinking and is that your favorite?

10. Salt Lake is a beautiful city
I've been out that way several times for my job, but not recently though. Were you born and raised in Utah?

13. Born in Tooele Utah. Raised there but then moved
I lived in Texas, Washington D.C., Maryland, Wyoming and back to Utah.

We moved back here to take care of my father who had MS. I guess we are staying for a while longer unless we decide to move to Mexico.

I love the beauty of the mountains and if you ever get a chance to see the parks in southern Utah, it is really pretty.

9. Cherry flavored vodka.
It reminds me of going to the corner drugstore when we were kids and getting a real cherry coke.

Yes, I am that old.

5. Hey, astonamous!
I read your journal, and loved your poetry! It is quite beautiful. In your journal, you mention that you work for Richard Pryor. Do you have any funny stories you could share with us?

A belated Welcome to DU, by the way!! :hi:

11. The funniest think I can think of is that I worked for him for free...
Admin for his website and all. It use to make him laugh because everybody always has their hand out.

I have the last autograph he ever signed. It was a birthday present and I treasure it. Now I work for his widow and I charge her. LOL!

Thank you so much for the compliment on some of my poems. I have always loved poetry and try my hand at times, but mostly just try to put my feelings down so that I don't have to carry them around with me.

15. that is pretty funny that you worked for him for free!
Today, on the news, I heard that a bowl he painted before he passed away, was sold at auction for $7099 to the GoldenPalace.com-- the one who buys the grilled cheese sandwich that looks like Jesus, you know the one.

Anyway, the bowl had a self-portrait painted on the inside, along with the words, 'Little Black Man In A Big White World'. Here's a link to the article, including pics of the bowl: http://www.send2press.com/newswire/2006-03-0320-002.shtml

16. HIs wife is so thrilled with the results of the auction.
Richard would have been too. In fact we think he had something to do with it. He did paintings as part of his physical therapy. If you look really close at the pictures, you can see the blobs of paint. The autograph I have took him over an hour to do. MS is a Motherf*cker.

It is still very sad to think he isn't here with us anymore, but I know he is now without the pain and the humiliation of the disease.

Richard also loves it when he is quoted on the Senate and House floor. "Who you gonna believe, me or your lyin eyes"?

18. He probably did have something to do with the returns of the auction..
I firmly believe that our loved ones who have passed on, aren't that far away from us after all. I agree that he is free from all the pain he suffered with for so many years, and probably having the last laugh!! He was such a gift to the world, and we are better for his having been here.

20. Mr. Pryor stood up on a stage all alone and told his story...
laughed at it and gave us permission to laugh too. With all the bullshit that is going on in this world, and I really get caught up in it all, it is always important to laugh. That is why I get drawn in by the Lounge here. I read the news the updates and the comments, but then I visit the Lounge to see the silly subjects and the posts. It's good to laugh.

24. My handle is from my high school days...
No one knows what it means, but it was a cheer we use to do before a swim-meet.

The brand is "3 Olives" vodka. Mmmmmm.

In fact, the last time I had cherry vodka was when I got my minor consumption my junior year of high school.

Peach vodka is another favorite of mine. It's good as a frozen drink, especially in the summer.
