Who has seen "Good Night and Good Luck" ?

Murrow seemed like a real patriot.

Did he completely predate Cronkite, or did the two ever serve together?

From the trailer, I expected more drama in the form of tense standoffs. Mr. Clooney instead chose understatement, and I think it was genius. I was riveted to every single word.

I didn't see Clooney's "Fail Safe" remake, but the original was very much like "Good Night, and Good Luck" in that Sidney Lumet maintained a level of tension throughout and let the viewer decide what the crucial moments were.

Hey, fellow Arkansan, I just rented it and saw it last night. Very good film that effectively chronicled the drama of Murrow and company's position in broadcast journalism and just how groundbreaking that coverage was. I loved Strathairn as Murrow -- chomping at the cigarette and smartly countering the bluster of McCarthy. Using newsreel footage was a wise move (particularly with the woman being hounded by the House committee). What was so impressive to me was Clooney's direction -- tight story that just propelled along fine, raising serious questions and tackling the real meaning of presenting news. Characterization may not have been thoroughly developed, but then again these folks were seen in terms of the roles they played for the public. The black and white cinematography really carried some of that feel quite nicely. And I agree on Murrow ... total patriot in the best sense of the term.

And I've recommended it to every person I hang out with.

In fact just tonight I recommended it to a girl I knew in Jr. High that I came in contact with again recently... apparently she's been supportive of Bush for the last few years and hasn't really questioned anything until tonight- someone linked her to that Loose Change video- so I told her to watch it, and while watching think "terrorist" and "terrorist sympathizer" instead of "communist", and see for herself that our government has a long history of lying to the public and using fear as a tool to keep us from questioning them.

Anyhow, one of my favorite things about the movie is that they didn't put some intense climax in it. If they'd done that a lot of people would probably walk away just talking about that part of the movie. Since there was nothing like that, hopefully people will be thinking about the whole picture. I also like that they did it in black and white, and the music was great.

Saw it in the theatre and now have the DVD. I think everyone should see this movie, though I know that there are still some people who would not like it's message.

It captured the spirit of the era but nothing could adequately portray the scope of asshole'ishness of Sen. McCarthy.

my childhood actually watching that play out on tv.

And I've realized that the 50's had their own reality tv...Shows like See It Now, Person to Person and You Asked For It. But reality shows that meant something.
