Movie Sequels that were better than the Original
Godfather 2 and 3 come to mind...

1. The Bride of Frankenstein
I also hear that the Harry Potter movies get better as they go along. (I haven't seen any of them myself, due to a personal vow not to see any movies directed by Chris Columbus.) And someone will invoke The Empire Strikes Back, though I myself am on the fence about that.

But surely to biscuits you can't think that Godfather III is better than the first!

2. Pst...
Chris Columbus only directed the first two films. Which may be why they get better as they go alone

3. Chris Columbus was underrated for what he did with HP
It was his best work. Honestly, he had the most difficult job in realizing the author's vision of a world on the screen. The directors who followed did not have that task...
The most recent installment "Goblet of Fire" seemed very flat for me and didn't capture the book so well.

However, Cuaron's job was much better on viewing it a second time.

4. It's true he only did the first two, but I also figure that if
I watch numbers three onward, I won't have the first clue what's happening. It'll all be a crazy mish-mash of flying teacups and enchanted wizard balloons; and who is Ron Weasely?

I guess I could read the books, but then I'll want to see the first two movies, and that'll bring me dangerously close to breaking this longstanding vow I've got. You can see the problem!
