Good Thursday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
How are you today? Everything is fine in the Clintmax household! We made it over the "Hump Day" and now it is smooth sailing to the weekend! :bounce: Greekspeak and I went to eat last night at "Bennigans". Have you ever been there? They have really good food and we enjoyed ourselves a lot! If you haven't tried them yet...and there's one in your city...GO!

New Car Update: My yellow Nissan is freakin awesome! I love that car! I keep getting congratulatory letters from the staff at the dealership and I got a call from NissanUSA wanting to know how everything was going and if I was happy with my experience at the dealer! I'm so happy THEY are happy that I bought a Nissan! :bounce: I highly recommend them, just so you know.

Are you ready to get this day started? Me too! :bounce: So let's do it!

I slept well too, although in two parts. I fell asleep on the couch and slept until 2:30, then into the bed and up again at 5:30. I've got a cup here too, and enjoying THAT!

Yes, I'm SO glad I have my new car! Here's a picture of it:

5. Good morning Clint!
I've heard of Bennigans but I've never been to one. In fact, I've never even seen one. There don't seem to be any around here.

Happy to get the day started? Nah, I'm waiting for the day to end. :boring:

At least this shift was much calmer than the last one.

And now that other guy isn't moving in until Friday, so I have another reprive.

Of course it's Thursday again and that means......laundry :puke:.

On the bright side, I got the novelization of V for Vendetta from the library and started reading it yesterday. I'm about 87 pages into it so far, and if the movie is half as good as the book, I'm going to love it. Already I'm seeing so much of the current Talibornigans and neocons in that book--it's downright scary! :scared:

41. I'm putting off the flooring questions for another few weeks.
I've got to take drive north in a few hours. I have an appointment at Albany Medical Center. After I got my first set of hearing aids I was so unhappy that I decided I needed more help than a local audiologist could offer. My aids have 3 settings plus volume controls but I'm missing far to many words x( it's time for a tune-up.

I was thinking about catching another 1/2 hour of sleep this morning but I usually don't breakaway from DU until 8:30 or later.

Yes, if you're missing too many words, they need to get checked out. I hope they can do something to them so you don't have to purchase brand new ones...they're expensive as hells.

These have mini computers inside of each one. Yes. They were expensive. I feel certain that we'll be able to just give them a tune-up. They went back (one_at_a_time) about 20 months ago so I'm only 8 months overdue.:( It Is Amazing what slips out of people's mouths when they think no one can hear them. A lil tune-up can be a dangerous thing!

Yes, it is a very bright sunny day. That is the reason why it was cold last night (very clear), so there was a light frost to scrape off the car before coming to work.

I've decided to have a very productive day at work today - and it's almost happening as well....I've put Bach's organ works onto shuffle, which will keep me going until home-time (and way beyond that too).

Got some green-tea, and am charging through a pile of work.

It is OK, the later flights back to Germany would have been more expensive. And for a first visit it is good enough. And he pays for the expenses in London.

64. you just need to find things that aren't boring
or just make something up. For example I say things like this in it:
__________

This once, for a whole year, I only ate rose petals, just so I could know the taste of beauty.

Ok, I’m lying, I just wanted to say that. I say things. Mainly for making people laugh. That one has been in my head for a few weeks now. Somehow, someday, I’m going to find a way to use that in a story.

But, if you want to know anything about me you must know laughter. Or at least have an idea what it is. And, what it means to Indians.
___________

Ok, no way in hell have I ever eaten rose petals. but I wanted to say something so delusional it was funny. Look for that, look for meaning, look for passion. Then just start putting it down. It doesn't even have to make sense. Break every writing rule any HS English teacher ever told you way back when.

You know, Bukowski could write a poem about anything. You work in retail. I bet you observe people of all stripes. All day every day. That's a gold mine right there. :)

90. I should finish it sometime this week
I post stuff in the writing forum. Sort of depends if I'm using it for anything. For the sake of a magazine or something, I won't post something that is due to be published or whatever. I'll send it to you when I'm done.

Oh I already know you have a treasure trove of stuff. It's a given. The most interesting moments in life are those little entertaining observations. We all have them and we all can identify with that. The arrogance of people writing about themselves is that they tend to write something most people don't get. Oh, so some guy wrote about his trip to Italy and how he stayed in 4 star hotels. Well, I'm a farm hick from an Indian reservation in MT, I don't know or care about that stuff. Not unless I get to go on a trip like that. But, I do know all about regular people and how interesting lives can be. So if you were to write a bunch of quips about what you see on a daily basis, well I could feel that. Because, I probably know people like you are describing etc. As a reader that would suck me in. Just for fun someday you might want to give it a try. Or say you are kicking back at work and you see some guy. Just by looking at him make a whole history up about him. "His name is Ted, he is a Harvard graduate, but gave up his Wall Street career to go into porn etc" Just be ridiculous. It's fun, trust me. :)

119. there are all sorts of little tricks
to help get people started. We all have things we can write about. Granted, just like anything, not everybody has the talent of Shakespeare, but we all have stories to tell.

I got started from listening to people. That and reading all the time. I used to sit around at my parent's house and listen to visitors come over and tell stories. It's a big part of rural culture. Coffee, friends and loved ones and lots of stories and laughter. I've been listening to and making up stories since probably before I could walk. Putting them on paper was a logical next step. Anybody can learn technique and all that stuff. It's basic. From that point on, you just need to be pointed in the right direction and do some writing. Whether it's just for fun, for your eyes only, or you want to try to get something published. The process is pretty similar. My advice is to just go for it. Carry a little pad with you, jot down a quick idea or two, such as if you see something interesting at work, or you make up some history about some stranger like I mentioned. Then go home and create something out of it. If you get a few good ideas during the day, write down a quick sentence or two about it, well, that's a good start toward something else when you get time later on or when you have a day off. Like I said, lots of little tricks to get someone started. It's enriching, more than anything just do it for yourself or to make a loved one laugh or whatever.

136. yeah, those are fun
I do that too. One time I was woken up in the middle of the night, by some sound, I jumped up, looked around...... didn't see anything and went to fall back asleep. Just as I was dozing off, I just thought "Spinky." I have no idea why that popped into my head. Well, the next morning when I woke up I was lucky enough to remember it. I ended up naming a character "Spinky" in the first story I ever published. :) If I didn't have that notepad by my bedstand I never would have wrote it down. I used to always get asked about that name. People back home want to know who "Spinky" is. Just some guy I made up, a conglomeration of a few friends and a funny name. Funny how that works, huh? :)

Glad to hear that you're happy with your car. And nice customer service work by the Nissan staff. They know how to smooze!

143. Good morning, Clintmax!
:donut: :hi:  Good to see you!

We used to have a Bennigans -- they were good. They left for some reason and something else moved in.

Glad that Nissan is working so well for you. Our daughter bought a used '93 Altima and she's still driving it. I don't even know how many times it has gone back and forth between FL and TN. She says she'll never own anything else.

:hi::hug:
It's good to see you too, my dear! :bounce::loveya: Bennigans is like a TGI Fridays but the food is better! I'm sorry you don't have them anymore. Yes, I'm thinking the same thing as your daughter about Nissan! They sure do keep in touch to make sure you're pleased with it!

I don't know why they left. Seems like we have a TGIF on every corner.

You're here pretty late ... different schedule today?

:loveya: I'm almost all better, thanks. It's just a dull ache now, so I know it's not anything serious.

Did you get that laundry done yesterday? (Am I on the right day?) I was lazy-bones and didn't even get dressed until almost noon.

160. No, we actually DIDN'T get the laundry done.
x( Too much stuff happened yesterday that prevented us from going. Now, I'm thinking just taking our clothes to the laundry and letting the attendants do them for us this time is going to be the best thing.

I'm glad you're feeling almost all better now! :loveya: I need to go now and get some stuff done before I have to go to work this afternoon...like take the clothes to the laundry. I'm glad I got to say hello to you today, my dear! Tell HarleyDad I said hello and I hope HE gets to feeling better too! :bounce:

When am I going to see another of your lovely works of art? :loveya:

:hi: Nissans are awesome. I just brought a 2006 Altima and yes the people at the dealership are very cool. I haven gotten tons of letters asking how it's going to.

Enjoy the car! :bounce:
