As some of you know, I recently moved from Texas to Vancouver Canada (2 weeks ago). Without having a job to go to. But sometime sya just gotta say oh what the fuck, right?

So today I had an appointment with my headhunter, and she & I chatted for a bit as to my dream accounting job versus nightmare, min salary etc. And THEN she dropped her bombshell on me...3 TESTS.

3 ACCOUNTING tests. (Yes, I am an accountant...but honest I'm NOT a boring person! Ya know the pottery sex scene in Ghost? That was originally scripted as an accountant, but was sooooo sexy they had to change Demi's profession to potter or go with an R rating. ;))

Gee, last time I did an accounting test was ohhhh 15 years ago...

EEEEEEEEEK!!! I was so NOT prepared for TESTS! lol!

But I did all 3 tests and the results were not bad. Heh. *grin*

-100% (their regional average is 82%, global avg is 83%)
-93% (their regional avg 62%, global 63%)
-87% (their regional avg 63%, global 65%)

(I lost marks on current Canadian taxes & payroll...gee I've not been here for 15 years, gimme a break! :D )

My total avg score puts me into the "advanced financial accountant" category at 93% (top 7 percentile!)

My headhunter's pleased as punch...I'm relieved as frigging hell, rotfl!!! WHEW!!!

wholesale (advertising agents) non-profit, government...everything but banking, I think. :)

Headhunter asked what my 3 fave sectors would be; I said film industry (Vancouver is 2nd only to Hollywood itself!) and financial...anything BUT manufacturing, lol! Did too many years as CFO for manufacturing companies, got tired of it.

I haven't taken any tests for about 6 years and I would be VERY nervous! You've done great and I'm happy for you! WE ARE ALL SO PROUD!

I am so frigging glad I didn't know I was gonna be taking tests today, or I'd have been a total basket case, LOL! As it was, I had allergies hit me hard today -all the cherry trees are blossoming, looks fab but OMG my eyes are burning red little slits- so it was damn hard to even see the bloody 'puter screen, let alone read and answer the questions, lol!

Of the 7 Qs I got wrong, 2 were very ambiguously worded (she agreed), 2 were total news to me, never heard of before (so those 2 I don't mind getting wrong, coz I just did not know the answers) and 3 were stupid reading comp errors on my part (those 3 I really am upset about getting wrong; I don't like making stupid errors, dripping blind eyes or not, lol).

I've been an international finance accountant for many years now, so was fun trying not to mix up what was German vs UK vs USA vs Canadian rules and GAAP, so I didn't put down a German statutory or UK or US GAAP answer to a Canadian GAAP question, lol!

(As you know, the best-kept secret is the fact we accountants are THE sexiest most exciting critters ever; sure hope the truth never gets out in public. We MUST keep pushing the myth that we're very boring. Were the truth to get out, our profession would be swamped with newbies wanting a piece of our action, and our salaries would drop like rocks. SHHHHHH!!! ;) )

Funny enough, my job involves paying monthly Canadian fees & taxes (for an Airline)payable to many cities (including Vancouver-YVR). SO..... If your future job involves taxes, perhaps you'll get to work with ME!!!! YAY!!! Wouldn't that be fun??? I'd make Vancouver my TOP priority (especially for a fellow DUer)
