What would you say to a 14th floor office overlooking the river?
I believe I'm about to say "YES"!

Looks like I might be leaving my current job for greener pastures. I like where I work now and they've been awfully kind to me, but we've had some recent changes that I don't think bode well for my department.

Then along comes a former boss of mine who wants me to join her in a different company. They've even tailored the position to get my attention. Nice office, wonderful view, lots of fringes, some travel, NO SALES, etc... My former boss was effectively a mentor to me and a good friend when I first started at my current place, so I trust her and the new company is well-established in its particular field.

I haven't gotten the "official final deal" yet, but I think I'm going to accept an offer sometime this afternoon. I'll be sad to leave my current job, but sometimes you just gotta take a leap of faith.

Wish me luck, everyone!

7. Yeah. Near LaSalle.
A little bit more of a walk for me (15 minutes instead of 5 - no big deal). Plus, only a 35 hour work week.

5. The Chicago River sucks.
Milwaukeeans have a well-earned hatred for the Chicago River.

15. A century ago, Chicago changed the course of the river...
...so the sewage dumped into it would flow into the Mississippi rather than Lake Michigan. Then, in the late '70s, Chicago had the gall to sue Milwaukee for polluting Lake Michigan.

No matter than Chicago dumped WAY more untreated or undertreated sewage than Milwaukee did; they claimed that since it wan't going into the lake, it didn't matter (and I do credit Chicago for having a beautiful lakefront). Of course, they were sending their shit to St. Louis; but that's of no relevance now, is it?

6. Doesn't sound like there are any downsides!
the fact that they tailored the position to get your attention bodes pretty well for you, as does knowing that you work well with the boss!!!

A nice view is such a perk - I love watching weather systems sweep in from my 26th floor office.

Just was in Chicago yesterday! Love Chicago - hate O'Hare!
