On Monday I am baking a wedding cake..(sort of)
My best friend finally married the louse she has lived with for 10+ years.. I'm not so sure they are "in love", but for her sake, she might as well have some legal protection by being legally married..She will now be covered on his military retiremenmt medical insurance, and pension ..

They fight like cats & dogs and he has done her wrong...so many times...but in a weird way the wedding makes some sense.. He has been in Lovey-dovey Overload, and she seems to be enthralled with him all over again..

SO as her best friend, I decided to do the cake thing.. I am making the layers different flavors and will ice it in white..no fancy stuff..just the shape..

I bought the round wilton pans and will somehow have to make this cake feed 125 people (I plan to surprise her Tuesday night at our bowling league)..

I have been buying her gifts for 15 years, and I am drawing a total blank for a wedding gift.. any ideas??

I was going to call the hotel and upgrade their room to a suite & have champagne & stuff, but deep down I feared they migth balk at the last minute..and he's a wheeler-dealer and probably already did it..

1. You're baking the cake?
And one that's going to feed 125 people?

That IS a gift.

3. It doesn't have to be fancy
You're taking the time...and the care...to do it. And it's a big job, even if it's plain. You're doing it because you love her and want her to be happy. That's what a gift is all about....

Sounds to me like YOU'RE the gift. She's fortunate to have you.
