My mother paid a guy $20 to take some old stuff out of the basement..
an oak rolltop desk so big we used to HIDE under the roll top, as kids
6 matching oak bookcases with clawfeet inlaid with ivory eyes (gargoyle faces on the carved tops).. they still had the original wvy glass fronts & skeleton keys..
and 6 chairs with carved backs & lions feet..ivory "claws".
and the books were all thrown in too..
They guy had 6 or 7 men there within 15 minutes and they hauled ass..and thanked my mother for the $20.00..
1. My brother once called the Piston's Ticket office and pretended to be Bob
Seger in order to get tickets to a game...actually, it was kind of smart. He showed up at the window and told them he was a stage hand, Bob couldn't make it...and got in the game anyway. :) We told him he was nuts...because he's a dead ringer for Charlie Sheen. ;)
3. I was forced to leave 4 grocery sacks FULL of pristine comic books
because the cost too much to ship home.. I was careful not to mess them up when I read them, so they looked like brand new.. One whole bag was just Classics Comics.. I could probably retire on what they would be worth today :(.. 1955-62)
all my Star Trek and Space 1999 and Star Wars toys at a yard sale.
This was in the early 80's and I probably got 10 or 20 bucks or something like that. I remember I had a specific thing or event I wanted the money for but I don't even remember what that was.
All those toys were still in good shape and would certainly be collector's items worth a good bit more not just in a monetary sense but for sentimental value (I would've loved to share them with my son).
