Time for another what are you listening to thread
Today, I listened to my two newest CDs:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones (I never expected to be buying it, but this shows how a band can mature. It's definitely more melodic, but it doesn't lose their energy. When not poppy, this CD reminds me more of metal than punk. Check out the explosiveness at the end of "Mysteries," and the chord structure of "Fancy.")

The Sounds - Dying To Say This To You (Excellent combo. of Blondie and Ace Of Base, with Cranberries-esque vocals)

And:

Radiohead - Hail To The Thief (was feeling political)

1. Oh, and I listened to the upcoming Pink album on..
MTV's The Leak. I just love her independent attitude. Strong candidate for my best of the year list.

Simon and Garfunkel, some Strauss and Gustav Höltz' 'The planets'.... considering this is the only music I own, this one answer will suffice for every day.

7. I only ever listen to INXS anymore.
It's kind of sad really. I keep waiting for my obsession to subside, but it doesn't. :o

But they were really good, and Micheal Hutchence was an amazing singing. So yeah. Ok. I'll shut up now. Really, I promise. I won't even go into my rant about how they were a completely underrated band and...... ok yeah I'm going now.

10. I saw them before they really
"made" it back in '83. I was front row and little to the left of the stage. Michael Hutchence's sweat fell on me frequently. They played a small venue in Ft. Worth, TX.

8. Clutch - "Robot Hive/Exodus"....
totally smoking album. Clutch has developed a sound thats a good mix between heavy and funky.

Midnight Oil - "Red Sails in the Sunset" I have been dipping into the Oils for a little while now, being satisfied with what I have been hearing. However this album blows me away. "When the Generals Talk" is an uncharacteristic funky, techno number, and "Jimmy Sharman's Boxers" a compelling, haunting song that tells the story of the exploitation of aboriginal boxers:

"...From the red dust north of Dalmore Downs
Sharman's tents roll into town.
Twelve will face the auctioneer.
Sharman's boxers stand their ground.
Fighting in the spotlight
Eyes turn blacker than their skin
For Jimmy Sharman's boxers
It's no better if you win.

Why are we fighting for this?
Why are you paying for this?
You pay to see me fall like shrapnel to the floor. "

15. I'll post today's listening on this thread
since it doesn't have many posts.

Today, I heard:

The Faders - Plug In & Play (wonferful pop/rock!)

And heard samples from:

Cascada - Everytime We Touch (so far, sounds too recycled. Not really my kind of album.)

Really anxious to receive Katherine Schell's Emptier Streets. It's on backorder from Circuit City right now.

Going somewhere fun? Our little guy is doing well, becoming more observant with less screaming. It's all good. We are getting ready to move to the upstate, near the border of Georgia. So, quite busy. Going house hunting tomorrow.

38. I got it from the Whitemud branch
but it wouldn't be a problem requesting it to the d/t one...

I was looking through their music section (which isn't huge), and came across it.

I can PM you with the details (call #, etc) if you wish, and I'll let you know when I return it. It's a fun CD, that's for sure! (lots of so-and-so with their ukelele):D

Oh! Just found it on the Amazon website...the cover is different: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001HFL/sr=8-1/qid=1143875473/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-6306691-9352620?%5Fencoding=UTF8

18. Black Label Society "Kings of Damnation 98-04"
Premium hard rock. Zack Wylde, former guitarist for Ozzy, fronts the band. IMO, the Black Label Society catalog is Wylde's best work although he had more commercial success with Ozzy.

Tin Heart's playing right now.
***
Looking for a way to get out of here
And you're so afraid that you'll just disappear
And the water's getting higher

Everybody knows what you've been through
'Cause you won't shut up when they stand next to you
But at least you're not a liar

You've rusted over the years as if your heart were made of tin
And someone's calling you up from down beneath the floor again

And it's time, time, time
You've lost your mind, mind, mind
And you can't find, find, find a way to
Run on empty

If you only could you'd do it all
And the faster you go, the harder you hit the wall
It's another way of turning
Nobody can say you didn't try
And you learned to walk, so maybe you'll learn to fly
If you keep the fire burning

You're crushed beneath their shoes as if your heart were made of tin
And you keep playing, but you must know the house will always win

And it's time, time, time
You've lost your mind, mind, mind
And you can't find, find, find a way to
Run on empty
***
Next up is Hey Abandon.
***
Neon flickers as we walk down the road
Sometimes nothing is the heaviest load
Sickness penetrates much more than we knew
I'll burn candles in the darkness for you

Hey abandon
Did I ever get through?
Hey abandon
I'm inside here with you

You'll accellerate and crash through my door
I'll fall overboard and wash on your shore
Given gravity, what more can I do?
I would soar across the ocean for you

Hey abandon
Did I ever get through?
Hey abandon
I'm inside here with you

There's something desperate in the way that you stare
You look at me as if I'm not really there
You keep on dreaming up new ways to get through
But I can't help but leave a light on for you

Hey abandon
Is it ever too far?
Hey abandon
Now we're oceans apart

Hey abandon
Did I ever get through?
Hey abandon
I'm inside here with you

35. Cats and Jammers
A two album mix of hot swing to low down blues with everything in between that a good friend put together for me. With this damn California March rain and a promise of spring just around the corner, this music scratches the itch just right.
