It's time for Rabrrrrrr to relearn guitar - my new Washburn comes today!
YAY!

I bought me a Washburn D10s, and it's on the delivery truck, making it's way to my hands today! WOO HOO!

I'm so excited. It's been so many years that I first played guitar (and poorly, and without direction). But now, I am ready to learn the SOB! And hopefully move up to electric in the next year or so.

2. I have a few such things myself
Including c. 150 banjos. I believe that guitar players refer to such things as weapons of mass ear destruction. Good luck with the guitar - I'm trying to learn to play the uke !

14. How long ago was that so ?
I know a family who stretch down from Lexington to Monticello and I recall being told that one of the family members also played with one of those two a long long time ago - can't remember which. Very nice guitar you mentioned. Most of the banjos are oldies going back to late 1860's, with majority 1890 - early 1900's and most of my pals your side are also collectors.

best wishes from the Old Time American Traditional Music brigade !

ps must learn to play !

15. Art Stamper(old time fiddler)......E.Ky native(Knott Co.)
........Not to be confused with the Stamper that played forever at Renfro Valley.....He's of Western Ky descent.....btw my uncle Herbert Stamper is pretty well known in Bluegrass music circles.....my father moved our family quite a bit due to his 28 yrs in the military.....I have been influenced by quite a few styles however Bluegrass still stirs my inner child...lol....If I can get a few things out of the way(eminent domained by UK Med Ctr expansion-ZERO compensation for a 14 yr old business)maybe I can get back to a CD I've been working on for Far too long...lol....best wishes and save one of those banjos for me...lol

16. I think you've come up with the right name !
The connection is through my pal Linda who now lives in Dayton OH but she's from KY. I'm sure her mother is Doris Stamper and she's from Hazard I think. Linda's uncle, Don Napier, is down in Irving. It was Don who mentioned the subject to me.
Linda is out in Turkey at present. She went to see the eclipse - go figure. I'll 'phone her when she gets back and mention the name Herbert. Good talking to you. Since you mentioned the fiddle I've now got Bonaparte's Retreat stuck in my head !

On edit: I just checked, it should be a good guitar--now you add a "guitarist's-point-of-view" to yoour rants.

I eagerly await.

10. We're working overtime to take away gigs from those mariachi bands!
We'll work for less, and leave our families, and won't complain to "The Man!"

17. In honor of your new axe: D. W. Washburn
D W Washburn, I heard a sweet voice say,
D W Washburn, this is your lucky day.
A hot bowl of soup is waiting,
A hot bowl of soup and a shave.
D W Washburn, we picked you to save.

Can't you hear the fleugal horn?
Can't you hear the bell?
Even you can be reborn,
you naughty neer-do-well.
If you don't get outta that gutter,
before the next big rain.
D W Washburn: you're gonna wash right down the drain.

Up!Up! C'mon get up! Get up off the street,
If you can only make it to your hands and knees
I know you can make it to your feet, oh yeah.

D W Washburn, I said to myself.
D W Washburn, why don't they go save somebody else?
You see, I got no job to go to.
I don't work and I don't get paid.
I got a bottle of wine and I'm feeling fine-
And I do believe I've got it made.
I'd like to thanks all you good people
for coming to my aid.
But I'm D. W. Washburn and I believe I've got it made.

20. and here's the link
to the tab : http://www.guitarmasta.net/m/monkees/282926.html

Incase you didn't know the origin of the Washburn brandname it was the middle name of George Lyon of Lyon & Healy - Chigago. l believe that Lyon was of French origin. The brandname was used for the L & H upper market models.
