Very weird baseball rant!
I took my son to the orthodontist Monday, and in the waiting room was the April 3, 2006 copy of Time magazine. In it was an article about Goose Gossage, and how he is angry about not being voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. There was one of those little sidebar pieces, which included 3 other deserving players that have not been voted in as well. One of the players was Bert Blyleven (very cool).

The rub is, the picture of Bert that they used was when he was with the Angels. :wtf: He was a Twin for 9 full seasons plus parts of two more seasons, he was only an Angel for 3 seasons. Again, we in "flyover" land get no attention.

1. Aw, Kitchey. I'm a die-hard Mariners fan, but I have a lot of
respect for the Twins!

2. They probably used file art
Which can be ages old if it's not a hugh celebrity. And magazines like Time aren't big on sports, so...

3. I loved him when he was w/ The Tribe
HE should have won the Cy Young the year when he went 19-7 on a typically mediocre Indians team; he had one of the best curveball I've ever seen..

6. His curveball was legendary
I wish I had paid more attention to him back then.

5. Thats bizzare
Hey I have this baseball lists book by ESPN's Rob Neyer and he had a great arguement for Bert Blyeven and how he sees him contrary to the belief on Don Sutton, to quote Rob, "Most people see Bert B lyeven and see a poor man's Don Sutton, I see Don Sutton and see a poor man's Bert Blyeven. I thought it was a fair article if you consider that Blyeven didn't play for as good teams as Sutton however when he did make the playoffs he did better than Sutton. I need to read that time magazine article next appointment I have. There are a lot of people who should be in the hall who aren't in my opinion, and a lot who shouldn't be too mostly because of the 60's era tendency of the Veterans committee to vote their old teammates and friends in.
