Is Verizon th only wirelss ISP?
I,ve been having connection issues with my cable-high speed internet. I get an IP address conflict error message evry hour or so and I lose my connection. I then have to unplug my router and my connection comes back for another 45-60 minutes. I called my ISP and they said that I should contact the router manufacterer, which I did. I spent 30 minutes on hold, then 1, 1/2 hours with s tech. They moved some IP numbers and it was ok. For about 45 minutes.
I'm wondering if there is another wirelss provider thats not $80.00 a month for a 2-year contract. It seems that Verizon is he only one. Are there any other reputable wireless providers available?
I'm tired of the shitty service I've been getting from Cox Communication.
Thi is sooooo damn frustrating!

1. I think Sprint may be rolling out a wireless IP service.
I saw a commercial for it.

2. We have three computers online here.
My desktop, my laptop and my kid's desktop. The kid's PC stays online. The other two go out all the damn time!
Sprint? I'll check on that. Cox Communication has been jerking me around for years. But Verizon is $80.00 a month for two year contract. I dont know where I'll be in two years and $80.00 a mo is a bit pricey for me.

3. Based on what I know, your problems could likely be solved
with an $80 router, or even a free firmware upgrade to the router you have... or 10 minutes of someone's time to help you set up static IP's. I think that Cox is not your issue (not that they don't have their own) . You can easily prove or disprove this by taking one machine and hooking directly up to your cable modem with it - bypass the router. I bet you can stay connected all day long that way. The IP address conflict is a symptom of DHCP issues with your router and/or internal LAN.

Seriously, unplug your router from the cable modem and plug the modem right into your machine. Re-boot and I bet you have zero interuptions.

5. I'm at the firmware sire, downlaoded the software...
Following the onscreen instructions. They ask to checheck the cable connections, its ok..."next"...they ask if the LAN lights are on,they are..."next"...then it goes back to the cable connection prompt where I was before.

I talked to a rep at a truck stop and she said this:

many times they can give you the better rate of $60/mo which you normally only get with a voice plan even if you have a different cell phone provider

Also, they override the two year requirement and give you a one year deal

And lastly they can give you a mail-in $50 rebate vs the cost of the card

They seem to be paid on commsion so you can probably find one willing to jump through a few hoops to close the deal

7. No. We have Sprint.
I don't like it though, to be honest. It is too slow, like dial up and I am used to cable. It sure beats not having a connection, though.
