What was your nickname growing up and why?
Mine was Pebbles.
My mom would bunch my hair together on the top of my head and put in a bow. This was in the early 60's and The Flintstones was a popular network show. My dad thought I looked like Pebbles. I always thought my dad looked a bit like Fred. Funny but until he died I didn't realize that he was the only one who called me Pebbles.

I have no idea how I got it, only that my mom started it. It lasted about a year, then for some reason, she went back to my real name.

14. Butch. And it stuck.
Friends and relatives call me that.

In 1941, it was a fad to call little boy babies "Butch".
After I had been cleaned up from the birth process, a nurse presented me to my mom.
"Here's your little Butch."
And that's been me ever since.
:-)

17. Slave
I was the youngest of six and none of my siblings ever wanted to play with me so no matter what the game, if they let me play I was ready to play it.

My sister (who was evil and cruel) decided to get me to play "slave" - I had to do whatever she told me to and call her "master."

That damn game lasted about 8 years. :grr:

18. "Cheeseball" or "Picky Nicky"
"Picky Nicky" because someone, and I'm not sure who, decided I was picky (though I've never thought of myself that way) and my first name is Nicole. But I hate the nickname "Nicky" so don't think of me with that name or call me that!

"Cheeseball" because my aunt decided that I was weird or cheesy or something. I was still very little then.

Given to him by the legendary Billie Holiday when she used to babysit for him. Billy would later go on the name his production company, "Face Productions."

22. I was teased mercilessly with nicknames I didn't want as a kid.
so I don't even want to go there with listing them.

I have a very unusual first name and the kids looooved to make fun of it, growing up. It was really hard for me sometimes. I just wanted to be a Susan or a Kathy or a Jennifer. Something "normal".

Seriously, I've never been big on nicknames ever since...for MY name, anyway.

Now, of course, I love my name. I had to grow into it. :D

Unusual name club member checking in!
I was made fun of often over my real name. I used to write down more "normal" names and ask that people call me them instead. Between my name, GATE classes (yep, one of the smart kids in school) and having moved there from another state I was ridiculed on a daily basis. It was ok to laugh at me, to pull cruel pranks on me, and to attempt to force me to do things that I didn't want to do on dates in high school.

Kids are cruel, aren't they?:pals:

not too many people used it, my grandpa coined it for me, and my uncle and sometimes my sister would call me "cha"

I guess when I was a toddler I used to dance about or something and my grandpa, who was from Hungary, thought I looked like a little Zsa Zsa (Gabor)

with his accent it sounded like "cha cha" " :)

31. My "nickname" was/is Marie
My mom and I have the same first name--Mary. When I was growing up, the family called me Marie as a result to distinguish between Mom and me. When Mom or Dad got really pissed at me, they would sometimes call me Maria!! (Including the exclamation marks! :))

The family is still the only ones to call me Marie. All my friends call me Mary, which is what I prefer.

38. Horse
I was a shy kid from a big farming town and we moved to a small, very inbred sawmilling town where the girls didn't say no to the boys.

I got a reputation for being able to kick like a horse even if my hands were held tight, and they gave up trying on me.

For many years I thought that good girls made the guys happy and that I was just bad.
