2. Not on my bootleg version
Had a Lear 8-track in my '72 VW camper. Played the hell out of it. Stopped in some town in CO one day, and found one of those cool music and poster stores that used to be around... Anyway, bought a bunch of bootleg 8-tracks..Clapton, Dylan, and more.

Then, one night went to a concert. Came back out and the 8-track player was gone, but the thieves left all the tapes.

What thsy didn't know was that that player HAD JUST DIED (the rubber-like band driver had snapped).

What was there before 8-track tapes? Records. :shrug:

There was another kind of tape system that looked similar to 8-track, but it never caught on with the masses. But radio stations everywhere used it for years before CDs.
