Winter Wonderland!
I know, I know, I should have my head examined but this storm is just beautiful up here. It came on slowly but now I'm getting whacked. The wind is blowing so hard that the snow is coming down sideways. The lake froze over in one night this week and now it's a vast expanse of white. It's the grey of the bare trees and stone walls against the white that gets me going. It is just lovely.

The secret to enjoying this kind of this is being prepared for it. Plenty of food, wood and things to do inside. No need to be anywhere. Everything battened down and tightened up. This is the very first snowstorm since I became an adult that I have enjoyed. Now if the roof caves in later today, I be singing a different tune. But for now, everyone I care about is safe and sound and I'm going to enjoy this! :hi:

1. snow
I know how you feel. I know it causes many problems for people but that doesn't make it less beautiful. We seldom get snow where I live and when we get it we all go nuts. I grew up in Philly and remember the snows and get nostalgic. But of course, it can be deadly to some people and I do not discount that.

2. When I lived in Alabama
we had a dusting once and the kids on the street went from lawn to lawn to lawn gathering snow for a snowman...it was a pretty skinny one but they loved it! :-)

7. I can remember doing that...
here in Texas on the rare occasions we got any snow in my hometown.

I had to go off to college in Lubbock before I ever saw real snow. We had a storm drop nearly a foot out there in places one year and you could sure tell I wasn't the only one out there who had never experienced that before. The whole campus was one big snowball fight. Even some of the professors played. :-)

3. One of the most beautiful sights I've seen
Is trees/everything after early stages of an ice storm. Of course, a few hours later, a lot of those trees were broken by the weight :-(

4. Gone away, is the bluebird.
Here to stay, is a new bird.
He sings a love song,
as we go along,
Walkin' in a WINTER WONDERLAND!
from memory yet

Used to live in the woods in So. NH where we could go cross country skiing out the back door.
Beautiful.
Now I'm happy in coastal Alabama.

5. "Oh, the weather outside is frightful ............."
But, since I've no place to go ............
LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!"

I'm in Upstate NY, we have about 8 inches on the ground right now & it's still coming down strong. Everything is so white & clean looking, I am enjoying it very much.

I doubt that will be case when I have to man the shovel though.

9. sounds cozy!
I love being snowed in! I don't experience it very often, so the novelty never wears off.

Stay warm, safe, and enjoy. :-)
