Poll question: How Many Actors Have Played ''Dr. Who''?
Your best guess... no fair searching, Google-ing, or Wikipedia-ing.

Ten. Eleven if you count peter cushing in the 'dalek' films.

More if you count unofficial stories and stand-ins (like the guy replacing hartnell in the 5 doctors?)

How many are still alive?

2. Twelve
If you count Richard Hurndall (who played the first Doctor in The Five Doctors due to William Hartnell's unavailability) and Richard E. Grant (who was hired by the BBC as the Ninth Doctor several years ago when the prospect of a new TV series wasn't going anywhere and they wanted to do animated webcasts instead). That's about as far as you can push the boundary and still have officially-sanctioned Doctors.

What? Why are you looking at me like that?

14. The Valeyard was NOT the Doctor. He was
the amalgamation of the Doctor's darker nature, somewhere between his 12th and final (13th) incarnations. The Master admits this in episode 13 of "The Trial of a Time Lord", almost verbatim.

6. My guess is based on the TV show
I think it's six. If I figure in movies, I get lost. Just found out there was one in 1996, I had no idea.
I'm going to go check my answer now.

12. the first picture is Tom Baker
...Doctor #4

The middle pic is Doctor #5 (Peter Davison, also known as Tristan on all creatured great and small)

The last is Chris Eccleston the Doctor now running on the Sci-Fi channel.

As for how good it is, well, some people here (in the US) like some it don't. Personally I think its quite good, and ecclestons doctor is one of the best. In England it is a huge, huge, hit for whatever that is worth.

Tonight's episode is part 2 from last week, a good story, but critisized for being too humorous by the hardcore fans.

Next week the show kicks into high gear' with an episode entitled 'dalek'. Without giving anything away, it gets more dark and its set in utah! (sort of). From then on out it's Fantastic!

One should always remember when watching Dr. Who that in England it is reagarded as a Family show, not like the pablum crap that passes for family entertainment in the US at all.

It didn't have any votes so far and I didn't want it to feel left out, so I voted for No. 11

13. More than 12. Answers:
William Hartnell (TV Doc 1)
Patrick troughton (Doc 2)
Jon Pertwee (Doc 3)
Tom Baker (Doc 4, pictured)
Peter Davison (Doc 5, pictured)
Colin Baker (Doc 6)
Sylvester McCoy (Doc 7)

Paul McGann (FOX tv movie, 1996)

Peter Cushing (Movie Doctor, 1964 and 1965 - 2 movies)
Trevor Martin (7 Keys to Doomsday stageplay - about 1975)
Lenny Henry (a spoof in his own skit show, 1985)

Christopher Eccleston (2005)
David Tennant (2006-??)

Note: Eccleston's and Tennant's eras are part of a new series; a "reboot" than actual "continuation". This is why they are designated Series One, Series Two, rather than seasons 27 and 28...

There was one, or maybe two, other actors who did stageplays. But as it stands, we're at 13.
