OK, So I bought my 19 year old son a T shirt today. Need opinions.
He's a college student, studying electric bass. I was brousing at Marshall's today and saw a cute T shirt, on clearance for eight bucks. It has a picture of a bass (the fish) on it and says at the top "I AM A BASSMAN". I thought, "How funny for my bass player son to have this to wear". So far, so good, It's cute, right? Then I bring it home and show it to my 15 year old son who starts to laugh. "Mom, Did you notice that the B is faded out? I think it says "I'M A ASSMAN" "And I'm not sure he'll wear it". So, should a mother give her son a shirt that says"I'M A ASSMAN"? Or will he think I have totally lost my mind?

Signed, Bassman's mother

1. Give it to him. Tell him what you told us...
and let him decide.

He's in college, and he's playing the bass. I bet he'll like it. I think it's funny.

:hi:

3. Hubby and 15 year old and I keep cracking up.
I think I have to give it to him, it's too silly not to. Plus, I know me, if I took it back to Marshall's I'd have to launch into the whole story to the customer service person. Who SOOO would not understand and then I'd be REALLY embarrassed!

17. No, don't take it back...give it to him, and get a photo of him in it...
so that y'all can laugh for years about it. I think it's really funny!

2. Anything a Mother thinks is "cute"
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 03:43 PM by Radical Activist
will likely not be appreciated by any 19 year old male. Just a general rule I've found to be true almost all of the time.
On edit: He might like it better if it says assman. :)

4. I agree with Radical Activist
So when you give it to him say something like, "I think this is pretty lame, so I don't want you to wear it". Then he will wear it everyday. :)

6. LOL. Reverse psychology NEVER works on this one!
If he thinks it's lame, he'll tell me in no uncertain terms no matter how I present it to him. On the other hand, I HATE tasteless t shirts, do I want him to walk around Boston, or be up on stage wearing "I AM A ASSMAN?"

9. Give it to him. As a college student, I can tell you
that any clothing that postpones laundry day is welcome. :)

The worst that can happen is that it's not his thing. In that case, he'll tell you. Otherwise, he can always throw another shirt or hoodie on over it. :hi:

11. That makes sense. He HATES doing the laundry
He was at school about three weeks when he told me he needed more clothes. I sent him with everything he owned, seemed like too much to me.
He has learned to hang up his towels finally. :hi:

12. That's funny!
My son is a prof. wrestling fan and we were getting ready to take him and some friends to a show. Since I bought the tickets my girlfriend went to the mall to buy us all t-shirts. I told her to watch the profanity (my son was 13 at the time). She said she did by one shirt that said "your ass is grass.." I said that was okay, one of the adults could wear it. Until I looked at the back of the shirt (she did't see the back when she bought it), "...and I'm gonna smoke it!" The shirt stayed home for the evening!!!
