1. A big river.
I unwittingly did something similar, by the St Croix river...

(and, like Ansel, I do techniques which transcend basic photography... he "cheated" too. And it's not cheating because it's art. )

I wish photographers had the fame and glory today as they had during Ansel's time.

4. Well if it's not the Carquinez Strait
Then it's taken from San Jose looking north.

12. Oh yeah! I'll dig it out of my gallery and mail it to you.
One of my patients, a stroke victim, was a world re known photographer. At age 19 he ran into Mr. Adams and expressed his admiration for his pics. Adams took him under his wing and into his home, teaching him the fine art of B&W photography. This was in the late 60's. In this mans hospital room are pics of him with Ansel Adams. He traveled all over the US with him, under his tutelage.
His mentor was a Giant!

17. I cant give out his name due to privacy issues/HIPPA.
But he had studios in San Jose, San Francisco and Chicago, his hometown. He shot specifically in B&W.
If your husband is a photographer he'd probably regognize his work.
The poor guy had drug and alcohol issues ans stroked out two years ago. He'll be in bed for the rest of his life, sadly. Only 55 years old.

Initials are J.S.

The Eastman House and Museum in Rochester is one of my accounts- I will do my research!
It is a shame he had addiction problems. Way to young to be over. :-(

22. Saw the ORIGINAL today!!
Over 100 Ansel Adams photos, all signed in the lower right corner! Simply amazing detail and depth in the pictures. Not much of a crowd today as it was a very cold and rainy day.

I was able to look at all the pictures at my leisure. Fascinating to get up close to the pictures and look at the exquisite detail. Such a wonderful balance of light and dark, sky and land.

Beautiful, beautiful art. The exhibit runs through May 14. I plan to visit again.

:) :) :wow:

Do you think he shot it in BW mode on the camera, or converted it in his photography-shop?
