Music buffs: Hail to the Chief doesn't work for *, What new theme song?
I'm nominating....

The Great Pretender.

Oh-oh, yes I’m the great pretender
Pretending that I’m doing well
My need is such I pretend too much
I’m lonely but no one can tell

Oh-oh, yes I’m the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I’ve played the game but to my real shame
You’ve left me to grieve all alone

Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can’t conceal

Yes I’m the great pretender
Just laughin’ and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I’m not, you see
I’m wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you’re still around

Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can’t conceal

Yes I’m the great pretender
Just laughin’ and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I’m not, you see
I’m wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you’re still around

What song do you think best represents the boy king?

2. Lyrics To "Hail To The Chief"
Hail to the chief
He's the chief and he needs hailing.
Hail to the chief
So-oo everybody hail like crazy.

I can't remember where I heard this before, but it's stuck in my head ever since.

5. James Garner/Jack Lemmon movie
Dan Ackroyd was this corrupt president and Jack Lemmon & Jim Garner were his predecessors who he tries to have killed and they end up on the run. A very cute little satire of liberals and conservatives.

3. This song
Were you born an asshole?
Or did you work at it your whole life?
Either way it worked out fine
'cause you're an asshole tonight.

Yes you're an A S S H O L E...
And don't you try to blame it on me.
You deserve all the credit.
You're an asshole tonight.

You were an asshole yesterday.
You're an asshole tonight.
And I've got a feelin'
you'll be an asshole the rest of your life.

And I was talkin' to your mother
just the other night.
I told her I thought you were an asshole.
She said, "Yes. I think you're right."

And all your friends are assholes
'cause you've known them your whole life.
And somebody told me
you've got an asshole for a wife.

Were you born an asshole?
Or did you work at it your whole life?
Either way it worked out fine
'cause you're an aaaass...hole tonight.

7. "You're so Vain"
You walked into the party
Like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror
As you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive

Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won
. Dubya sucks. You know I'm right. (sorry, trifecta reference)
Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well, you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not, you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

9. My answer is a question...
Remember the fantasy sequence in "A Christmas Story" when Ralphie's dessed as a cowboy shooting the robbers in his backyard? What's that piece of music? Very plodding, kinda western... probably was also played in a number of classic WB cartoons.

Anyway, that's the perfect piece to replace "Hail to the Chief" for 43*, IMHO.

13. Funeral March of the Marionettes*
If you know it, think of his gait. He walks like someone off screen is pulling his strings.

*Alfred Hitchcock's theme song.

Laurel and Hardy's theme song would work too.

14. A lot of times when I think of *
Curtis Mayfield's "Pusherman" comes into my head. Everything he and his cartel have foisting upon this country; economic ruin, mind-numbing propaganda, fear and paranoia...seems a pretty fitting choice to me!

I'm your mama, I'm your daddy, I'm that nigger in the alley

I'm your doctor, when in need, want some coke? have some weed

You know me, I'm your friend, your main boy, thick and thin

I'm your Pusherman...
