Poll question: What's your reality-show guilty pleasure?
There are so many. Trying to keep it to the ones where there's a defined winner, so no Osbournes, for example.

3. My name is Fleabert, and I am addicted to too many reality contests....
Top Chef
American Idol
Project Runway
America's Next Top Model
American Inventor (maybe, it depends on how the next show goes, i am iffy on this one)
Biggest Loser

omg. I am a loser. At least they are not on at the same time- I am only watching two right now, with the possiblity of adding Inventor as a third.

fucking pitiful. :-(

I think it's more of a talent contest.

5. a tie
between "Family Business" and "Dog: Bounty Hunter"; Cousin Stevie on "Family.." is hysterical, especially when interacting w/ the "actresses", and as for "Dog", I just started watching it and although I really can't stand anybody on the show, it's got a strangely seductive pull to it that I can't explain..

8. Damn. Me too, SeattleGirl! I was gonna' post that.....
...I can't help it, I've been hooked on the show since season 1. One reason I like it, is because it is just following someone, instead of inventing false situations. It's like a documentary.

9. Woohoo, another fan!
I'm fascinated by Jonathan. Sometimes he seems like a really sweet guy, and other times he can be something of a jackass. Never know what you're going to get with him.

11. Exactly....
...that's what makes the show so good. In one sense, he's a self-absorbed prick, but in another, he is sensitive to others, and is a sensitive person. You never know what you are going to get. I think that dichotomy is what gives the show its spark!

Also, I like the fact that it is documentary. It's not contrived, or pre-planned. I don't consider it a "reality show" like others, but look on it more as a documentary. It's just a show that follows the life of a certain person. One either likes him, or they don't.

20. None of the above: TUF3
As in "The Ultimate Fighter 3" on Spike.

That show kicks ass! And it's even better this saeson because they're going to stop having lame-ass elimination challenges to see which team gets to pick who fights who. It was so-MTV and pointless; now they just start it all off with a coin toss.

THe talent they've got this year is much more refined as well.

42. My 11-year-old son and I catch those occasionally
They can get pretty hairy, but always seem to have a happy ending.
If I were a high school teacher involved in some kind of Health class I'd show a few "Nanny" tapes to my class. I'd stop the tape at the point of highest tension, and have a discussion with the students on how to resolve the probems, then watch the rest of the tape, and discuss some more.

43. Yeah, I always wonder about the families that refused to change
I'm sure there had to be some that were "failures".

I also wonder what would happen if they went back in 6 months or so, to see if the family was still "on track".

45. Well, I think you've got a good proposal for a NEW reality show
Revisit the worst cases and see how they're doing.
The same would apply for the wife swap shows, where sometimes they are awakened to the folly of their ways.

41. My all-time favorite from any reality show...
Charla, the Syrian-born dwarf and cousin of Mirna from a past season of The Amazing Race. This woman is something else.

I'd say that's my favorite show of all, but I don't always get the chance to watch it. My runner-up is The Apprentice.

Survivor has kinda jumped the shark for me. The basic premise is still a hoot, but I think some of the add-ons in recent seasons are getting silly. What they really need to do is host a season in a cold-weather climate for a change. Less skin, true, but much different survival challenges and strategies - and a much more immediate need for fire and shelter.

It's not a show I tend to watch on a daily basis but that one with the psycho Christian woman made for the best damn hour of TV in years!
