30. The Ten Commandments was always something I watched since I was a kid
I'm not even religious, but I like seeing the enactments of the old stories. I was not so aware of how much of a savage Moses was - though people were savages back then. Thankfully we're not savages any more (well, I think the Freepers are actually still savages).

24. Hmmmm
His being upset at his show being cancelled and verbalizing that on an internet message board would make you not vote?
George Bush is blowing up innocent people in other countries and you are pissed off enough to withold a vote to stop that kind of madness? Let me know how that works out for ya.
And the comment about the "adults"?
They've done a great fucking job so far--haven't they?
All in all--I think it is the "Democrat like you" that has hurt the party.
You know--the one willing to shut your mouth while the country goes to hell in a handbasket?
Anyway--enjoy your stay here.:hi:

29. Who are you talking to?
:wtf:
Religious programming is fine up to a point...Yes it is holy week...do you hear any body screaming about boycotting a program because it's religious...?
hmmm...no but it's okay for the neo-cons to scream about oh let's... see Barney, the Teletubbies, um whatever has their goat this week....

I consider myself religious but you know what I don't walk around screaming that everybody has to follow my rules...about respecting others, civility...taking care of the poor, taking care of the children and elderly....that's me...

The adults that you talk about will include Religious and Non-Religious people who believe there is a reason for the seperation of church and state and they will ensure that all religions are treated fairly in this country.

No one is putting down religion...this is America after all....

so loved by the fundies? Few observe them. And of course they ignore all the other laws that came with the ten commandments.

19. All the hate mongering of religious people, whatever their stripe
isn't going to endear yourselves to the spirit of Democracy.

Time to lay off the religious connoitering and get down to the real issues, which is what a lot of folks would wish the crybabies here would get lost and leave town, before another election is lost because of the utter uncouth nature of writers such as those that flood the threads with nothing but hate, more hate and more vile hatetred.

23. Welcome to DU!
You seem rather pissed about this issue. I watched the Ten Commandments myself - I like the story though I had forgotten how much of a savage Moses was. We're not savages anymore. I agree that people are piling on for no good reason. Where does all the hate come from?

31. HELLO
What does religion have to do with Democracy?
Doesn't that ring a bell as to why people might be upset?
Just the little fact that "some" people are trying to forcefeed us a diet of pure fundie religion and many of us are tired of it?

How bout taking a gander at these lovely religious people and please tell me why we can't embrace them lovingly?

37. Not hate mongering.
A true desire to see all people live by a basic set of ideas which respects all human beings. If we could all live by the principles established in the first chapter of Genesis it would be a very different world: Humans were created in the image of G-d. As such, we must treat every human being with the respect and reverence appropriate for that which is the image. Fundamentalism which leads to hatred between human geings does not deserve respect or reverence.

38. My Point Is That This Is Not Just For "Christians"
In fact the 10 commandments is much more a movie intended for the week of passover than the week of easter.

What does Moses have to do with Easter?

Little or nothing other than Christ was a Jew.

Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 11:09 PM by Whoa_Nelly
Naveen Andrews (Lost's "Sayid") was the only redeeming thing about it all. Found it to be poorly written with bad acting.

Am watching "House" right now. Then catching TDS at 10...just hope it's not a repeat like last night.
