Bad storms all around us earlier. We did not get anything bad here thankfully. Just some big hail.

I thought I was being shot at. I saw it but it all fractured as it hit but when it hit in the back of the pick up it made quite a noise.

I have seen it this big but not often, twice so far this spring though.

Fine here but I probably should drive back out to the farm and check the horses. The old guy often just freezes when something scares him and I always worry but he is always OK.

but I just got home from there. I am sick of the drive but it is only 10 miles. Yes, they are so sweet. I left both pastures and the stalls open so they would be able to get out of it when it hit but that does not mean he would not be too confused to do that. Poor old guy, I love him so much it hurts. We're getting some nasty winds right now and the temp is dramatically dropping.

We are cool for a couple more days. In fact it looks like the weather is going to be more seasonal. I don't know about you but 94 and 91 degrees in early April is kind of freaking me out. Back to the 70's this week thankfully.

I know that early afternoon it had to be at least the late 80's, then dropped w/in a few minutes into the mid 70's.

I hate that crap. It always makes me wonder if my tornado kit is completely stocked or not. And we both know that tornado season-wise, the worst is yet to come. May hasn't arrived yet.

Columbia's doing Shostakovich 10 for the final concert at the beginning of June. First rehearsal's Monday. Lotsa work to do!

I've got a Verdi Requiem next week as well as a chamber orchestra concert...Haydn 88 and Mozart Jupiter. And next month is an all-Tchaikovsky concert...March Slave, Rococo Var., and Sym. 5.

So I'm kind of busy... ;-)

It sounds wonderful, there is nothing in this world like playing a piece that touches you so.

We are doing Shostakovich 6 next year, I am looking forward to it.

All Tchaikovsky? That will be fun. You are very busy, I am looking forward to the summer off. I am not going to be playing this summer since I am hopefully getting some surgery on my little fingers. It is difficult to play when your tendon gets hung up and your finger gets stuck! I can't wait to have that fixed.

We just finished Mahler 1. An astounding piece and one of my favorites but a lot of work. Mahler always is though and well worth the effort. We also had David Schifrin here to do the Mozart Clarinet Concerto on his Bassest Clarinet. What a nice man he is. I have his email and may have the chance to run into New York and see him play in May and perhaps get backstage (perhaps not, we will see), still a very nice man who plays so beautifully. Last concert is a pops with Tesseract, a traveling group of the Cirque de Soleil. There is a ton of music with them and our conductor added some of his own so there is a ton of practicing to be done but a very fun concert, I only hope someone videos it because we won't be able to see it as they will be hanging over us part of the time.

That is what is up with me for now. Love it, I am so fortunate to be doing this.

It's a great showcase piece for an orchestra. Nobody can say they're bored!

Wow...I didn't know you were facing surgery. I hope it goes well for you. That's got to be a scary prospect even if you totally trust your surgeon... Keep me posted, ok? :hug:

Damn, I did not even think of it. LOL. Thankfully there was not a lot of hail. I have seen it piled up over a foot deep but this time it was just big but fairly sparse, you could still see the grass.

How are things? I hope they are coming along for you. My conductor says sometimes he can see a small change here and there but sometimes when he goes down there it all looks the same as last year after the storm.

In some areas, you can hardly see a change.

In other areas there has been progress.

I'm doing okay, good days and bad days, but I haven't give up hope nor will I stop trying.

I was listening to the pelting - and with each bang - hoping there was no lasting damage (which appears to be the case).

We have always experienced extreme weather in the spring and fall in this part of the midwest, but it seems so much more frequent in recent years - that it, and global warming, is becoming a part of normal/everyday conversations. Very interesting shift.

It does seem to be different. I have noticed big changes in the wind. It is always windy here but the last two years and particularly this year it seems that within the wind is a bigger wind that is more than a gust. I don't know how to describe it really except it is intense, longer than a gust and you can hear it.

It is kind of scary. I love the weather but I am happy to keep it at this level. I don't want it to get worse!!!

I'm glad you did not have any damage. We didn't either. Sure makes a big noise doesn't it?

Interesting is the growing # of comments per increased frequency of the storms and high gas prices. Am in a regiion that is complacent and rather rightward leaning (politically speaking) - and am noticing more and more outward criticism instead of apathetic complacency.

There were tornados but north of me. There was damage but I have not heard the reports yet.

UppityTeen graduates in a couple months and heads out to college. Took him and a friend down to LA for spring break, got to meet merh, working various places deconstructing, constructing, cooking, cleaning, etcing and they both want to go back between school and school. Economy sucks but life is ok. Figuring out how to talk with Mr.UP (hey, did you know that men and women communicate differently?).

Life is ok. Cold wind and rain right now, no tornados which I do not miss at all. Kind of wild there in the central states these days. How are you doing?

Wow, he is graduating? That is such a big step. One of mine is home right now and the other will be home for a little while tomorrow. It is always so nice to have them home.

That is wonderful that you went to help out and that your son went with you. Awesome as a matter of fact.

I haven't talked to the kids this a.m. - where did the bad weather hit? They're both living in OP now, and I missed the weather last night. Glad your safe, but watch out. It sounds like May could be worse than when I was there.
