Why are prostitutes so fucking expensive?

I have at various times in my life considered it but neve really checked into it.

It really depends on who, and where, and what. I mean, sex tourists can get head in Asia for a few dollars, but that's the kind of prostitution we're trying to stamp out. Less extreme but still not good, streetwalkers are less expensive. And there are still, as there always have been, "courtesan" types, escorts for the right, who will charge thousands or more, and who only hire out by days (or weeks) not hours.

But the real answer is, here in the US, if you want an independent prostitute who's doing it because she wants to, is in control of her job, and good at it, the going rate is about $150/hour - $350/hour. And of course that's what you'd want. $200 is pretty standard, but you're expected to tip well.

I've also considered trying it, over the years, but never done it. And now that I work on campaigns, I can't afford it anyway :/ I know a little about the rates mainly because some of my friends are or have been prostitutes.
