I hit Vinyl LP JACKPOT!!!!!
I was at my mother's house for the holidays and we went to the local Saturday flea market. I had to pay $2 for each of these records but worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. Hell some of these I would have paid $5 or more:

I hit the Allman Brothers Band Trifeca with "Live at the Filemore East", "Idlewild South" and their first album (hencely named Allman Brothers Band").

I also got Grand Funk Railroad's self titled album (It's in the shape of a giant size coin). Madonna's first album and Steely Dan's "Can't Buy a Thrill". And although I already had a copy of Traffic's "John Barleycorn Must Die" this copy was 150% better shape than the copy I have.

:woohoo:

2. Hey! Maybe YOU know the answer to this
Edited on Sun Apr-16-06 04:36 PM by Capn Sunshine
which modern manufacturer of amps makes one with a phono jack?
Cause it ain't the one I just bought to replace my Marrantz.

Or should I buy a vinatge amp on EBay?

And nice score on the albums. If you ever see "Southwind" where they are playing on the back of a flatbed truck on the cover, I'll pay you anything you wnat.........

3. If you can't find an amp with a Phono jack you can use AUX jack with....
a phonograph preamp

PM Rabrrrrrr for details because he just went through the ordeal.

It's a great one. I prefer to listen to it on vinyl over my cd any day.

Fillore East is incredible.

9. It would be a cold day in hell before I rank Lynard Skynard that high
I mean outside of "FREEBIRD" what have they done that makes them so highly rated? Hell, I would put Kiss ahead of Lynard SKynard!!

Kiss defined an era in Rock Music. And when I talk about Kiss, I talk about all records put out while they were still wearing makeup. The jumped the shark when they started performing without

12. Yeah, but
the era they defined was the era of rock as cartoon, of image surpassing talent, of manufacture over passion, of hype over craftsmanship. They were Alice Cooper's camp followers, lacking all nuance, or any genuine sense of theatre or creepiness.

There's more genuine empathy and insight in "Free Bird" than in Kiss's entire discography, and "Free Bird" is hardly the best thing Skynyrd did. (I like "What's Your Name" and "Gimme Three Steps.")

On the other hand, I once got to talk to Annie Wilson of Heart, back at the time of their first LP ("Crazy On You" and "Magic Man" both being better than anything by Kiss *and* most of Skynyrd IMHO), and she made the point that from a girl's perspective there was something really compelling about Kiss-- the idea that this guy wants you so bad that he comes across as a monster had a certain amount of sex appeal, in her analysis.
