We have rivers in BC

Some world class creeking stuff. I have a video with 10 tips for surviving BC.

10) Beware the Unrunnable, Unscoutable, Unportageable
9) Just because you have helicopter support, does not mean the Helicopter can save from Unrunnable, Unscoutable, Unportageable
8) Take a tarp, then take two tarps.
7) When in doubt: SCOUT.
6) Unless you're headed to the "skook" leave the playboat at home. (I think the Skook is the Skookumchuk, or somesuch--does that ring a bell? FYI Playboating is pretty much the aquatic version skateboard tricks and is considerably less dangerous than "creeking" which is what most people think of when they think "kayaking" creeking involves running steep, pushy and demanding rivers, often miles and miles from any help. Playboating is usually pretty close to the car. I'm a playboater, and a mediocre one at that! --eyepaddle)
5) When dropping into box canyons, always leave one man out.
4) Take an extra long rope, and a couple of breakdowns.
3) Be considerate and kind to the BCers, and apologize upfront for being from America (trust us on this one)
2) Just because there is a road beside the run, does not meant it is a roadside run!

I'd hope I could get you to vouch for me on number 3--but as you might be able to guess, a lot of BC runs are beyond my skill level right now

I have been rafting though, and the rivers did seem pretty wild. I won a prize for best bruises.

for fitness purposes, and stuff to do when the rivers get too low. Once again, BC has Minnesota edged out. Although Lake Superior does receive honorable (very honorable) mention! :)

I think that's the Baptism River in Minnesota--just a few miles from Lake Superior. The North Shore of Lake Superior is pretty damned rugged (as you can see)

As I hear tell, there are things in BC which make that waterfall look like rain gutter.

Interestingly enough, the second pic is at a man-made course in Wisconsin, and while it does have any "pucker" inducing waterfalls, it does have some tricky spots, I TOTALLY got my clock cleaned on a boulder there last year.
