Boy, do I feel awful...
There is a wheelbarrow by the back of my house that has some crap in it like tarps and bags of concrete. Well I was moving some stuff around in it when I lifted up a bag of concrete and quickly realized just what I'd done. There under the Quikrete was a nest of completely flattened baby birds.

And then later on I saw the mother fly back to the wheelbarrow with food in it's mouth, but it couldn't find its babies.

I felt really shitty.

1. Don't feel bad.
You didn't mean to do it. Besides, they were evil right winged republicans birds.

2. ...
I'd feel bad too, about the mother coming back. But you didn't mean to do it, so don't think about it.

3. Huh?
You lifted a bag of concrete and set it down on top of a nest? Or you moved a bag and the nest was already in the wheelbarrow, just now underneath a bag of concrete?

Sorry for the birdie family. Sometimes they put their nests in dangerous places, and being too close to humans is one of them. :-(

4. A double whammy
Just the flattened nest must have been awful.

The mother coming back is just heartbreaking.

:-(

7. Maybe that's supposed to be cute
It's not. Something like that happening just sucks. Ruins your day, unless you are a repug. I once found a badly injured baby rabbit by the Salton Sea in 115 degree heat. I put it in a plastic bag which I put on my car exhaust to put it to sleep. It took an agonizingly long time, and I still feel horrible when I think about it.

11. No, you didn't cause me distress.
But I don't enjoy the fact that I killed those baby birds.

But I'd like to point out, though, that it's very hard to recognize when people are being sarcastic on-line. So don't get mad at some of these people.

6. ~hugs~
Small comfort, I know; but consider this:

Most birds have several babies, and many will have a couple of nesting periods in a year. The reason for this is simple...the survival rate is not high for baby birds.

If you hadn't had your accident, a cat or some other animal might have eaten the babies for lunch.

Bless you and your good heart!

12. Awwww, don't feel bad...
But I know I would too. We had a nest up in our eaves, and my husband tried to gently move it to a bucket that he had hung from the porch, and all 8 eggs fell out and smashed. It's very sad, but you didn't know.

.. funny how certain people in this world don't think twice about killing other humans, and we are sad over baby birds. :-(

try not to be hard on yourself..
