15. What is scary about that song is that I referenced it this week in
conversation. I live near the Georgia line, and one of my colleagues lives in Georgia. He had to get a judge's signature for a legal matter, and this judge sounded EXACTLY like the judge from that song.

16. Not really well known
but
"Ohio Grown" by Ekoostik Hookah
East of the Colorado,
The rainbow will lead the way.
Behind me, I see the mountains.
Many miles I’ve roamed,
Been travelin’ alone,
I get the feeling now I’m goin’ home.

East of the Great Missouri,
The moonlight will lead the way.
Behind me, I see the prairie.
My eyelids feel like stone,
No time to rest my bones.
I get the feeling now I’m almost home.

The sounds of the forest,
The trickle of the stream,
The sunset on the water,
As I’m livin’ my daydream.
In the pond the shepherds will play.
I remember it that way.

East of the Mississippi,
The sunrise will lead the way.
Yonder, I see the flatlands.
I haven’t far to go,
I yearn for what I know,
I headed back to settle on Ohio because I’m Ohio grown.
I miss the rolling hillsides on the land I call my own.
I get the feeling now I’m nearly home.

34. Louisiana 1927
What has happened down here is the wind have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

The river rose all day
The river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through cleard down to Plaquemines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangelne

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The President say, "Little fat man isn't it a shame what the river has
done
To this poor crackers land."

35. Louisiana Rain
Well it was out in california by the san diego sea
That was when I was taken in by an aging boardwalk queen
Yeah she nearly drove me crazy with all those china toys
And I know she really didn’t mean a thing to any of those sailor boys

Louisiana rain is falling at my feet
Baby I’m noticing a change as I move down the street
Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes
I may never be the same when I reach baton rouge

South carolina put out it’s arms for me
Right up until everything went black somewhere on baker street
And it was just some mean old poison, that I took up my nose
Thank God for a love that follows the angels and the whores

Louisiana rain is falling just like tears
Running down my face, washing out the years
Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes
I may never be the same when I reach baton rouge

Well I never will get over this english refugee
Singing to the jukebox in the all night beanery
Yeah he was eating pills like candy and chasing them with tea
You should have seen him lick his lips, that old black muddied beak

Louisiana rain is falling at my feet
Baby I’m noticing the change as I move down the street
Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes
I may never be the same when I reach baton rouge

Louisiana rain is falling just like tears
Running down my face, washing out the years
Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes
I may never be the same when I reach baton rouge

37. Louisiana Man
At birth mom and papa called their little boy Ned
Raised him on the banks of a river bed
A houseboat tied to a big tall tree
A home for my papa and my mama and me

The clock strikes three and papa jumps to his feet
Already mama’s cooking papa something to eat
At half past papa he’s ready to go
He jumps in his pirogue headed down the bayou

He’s got fishing lines strung across the Louisiana rivers
Gotta catch a big fish for us to eat
He’s setting traps in the swamp catching anything he can
He’s gotta make a living, he’s a Louisiana Man
He’s gotta make a living, he’s a Louisiana Man

He’s got Muskrat hides hanging by the dozens
Even got a lady Mink, a Muskrat’s cousin
Got ‘em out drying in the hot, hot sun
Tomorrow papa’s gonna turn ‘em into mon(ey)

They call mama Rita and my daddy Jack
Little baby brother on the floor that’s Mack
Bren(da) and Lin(da) are the family twins
And big brother Ed’s on the bayou fishing

On the river floats papa’s great big boat
That’s how my papa goes into town
It takes every bit of a night and a day
To even reach a place where people stay

I can hardly wait until tomorrow comes around
That’s the day my papa takes his furs to town
Papa promised me that I could go
He’d even let me see a cowboy show

I saw the cowboys and Indians for the first time then
I told my pop I’ve gotta go again
Papa said son we’ve got lines to run
We’ll come back again but first there’s work to be done

He’s got fishing lines strung across the Louisiana rivers
Gotta catch a big fish for us to eat
He’s setting traps in the swamp catching anything he can
He’s gotta make a living, he’s a Louisiana Man
He’s gotta make a living, he’s a Louisiana Man

39. Louisiana Purchase
Louisiana purchase, I'll tell you what it means

It means I'd like to sell you New Orleans

Come on, come on

And you all can go to town way down in New Orleans

Louisiana salesman with nothing in his jeans

That's why I'd like to sell you New Orleans

Come on, come on

And do all the things there are to do in New Orleans

Where does that heat come from?

That rhythmic beat come from?

And that red meat come from?

New Orleans

Louisiana purchase, I told you what it means

So won't you let me sell you New Orleans?

Come on, come on

And you all can go to town way down in New Orleans

56. Mississippi -- Bob Dylan

Every step of the way we walk the line
Your days are numbered, so are mine
Time is pilin' up, we struggle and we scrape
We're all boxed in, nowhere to escape

City's just a jungle, more games to play
Trapped in the heart of it, trying to get away
I was raised in the country, I been workin' in the town
I been in trouble ever since I set my suitcase down

Got nothing for you, I had nothing before
Don't even have anything for myself anymore
Sky full of fire, pain pourin' down
Nothing you can sell me, I'll see you around

All my powers of expression and thoughts so sublime
Could never do you justice in reason or rhyme
Only one thing I did wrong
Stayed in Mississippi a day too long

Well, the devil's in the alley, mule's in the stall
Say anything you wanna, I have heard it all
I was thinkin' about the things that Rosie said
I was dreaming I was sleeping in Rosie's bed

Walking through the leaves, falling from the trees
Feeling like a stranger nobody sees
So many things that we never will undo
I know you're sorry, I'm sorry too

Some people will offer you their hand and some won't
Last night I knew you, tonight I don't
I need somethin' strong to distract my mind
I'm gonna look at you 'til my eyes go blind

Well I got here following the southern star
I crossed that river just to be where you are
Only one thing I did wrong
Stayed in Mississippi a day too long

Well my ship's been split to splinters and it's sinking fast
I'm drownin' in the poison, got no future, got no past
But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free
I've got nothin' but affection for all those who've sailed with me

Everybody movin' if they ain't already there
Everybody got to move somewhere
Stick with me baby, stick with me anyhow
Things should start to get interesting right about now

My clothes are wet, tight on my skin
Not as tight as the corner that I painted myself in
I know that fortune is waitin' to be kind
So give me your hand and say you'll be mine

Well, the emptiness is endless, cold as the clay
You can always come back, but you can't come back all the way
Only one thing I did wrong
Stayed in Mississippi a day too long
