Yep, that's right, the hammer finally came down, and can you beleive that it wasn't even done to us face to face, but by a public notice to all staff on various bulletin boards!!!!!!
Baah Humbug!!!!!!

2. Tripper, I am so sorry. What an awful thing to have happen.
I cannot imagine what kind of creeps they are to do this...in this way.

You are in my thoughts, Laura

3. Thanks...the creep in question is...
a "deeply" religious man that thinks Bush walks on water!!!

Does that help?

He did it at the end of the work day Friday, and booked it out of the office before anyone could say anything. Gutless wonder!

11. It answers a lot about the creepiness. That is horrid.
I wish there was something I could do or say. I'll be hoping you soon find work in a better place, where you are appreciated regardless of politics.

Hugs, Laura

4. Bummer!
May they all get coal in their stockings.

I was laid off in September, 1999. Right before Y2K craziness. No one was hiring. I did eventually get a good job and was better off than before. Just don't lose hope!

Sending good vibes your way.

:-)

7. Didn't you just post a prediction this would happen?
I seem to recall Thursday or Friday evening, I saw one where you said you were halfway expecting it, though I seem to recall you thought it wouldn't happen until closer to the end of the month. Damn -- I'm sure it's no consolation to you that you were right, don't get me wrong.

I'm sorry to hear it. We get to wait until after the holidays to find out our fate, they told the Mr. the week before Thanksgiving there was going to be a big bloodletting in January. I don't know if it's better to get canned before the holidays or have to sit it out through the holidays wondering if you're going to get canned.

12. Yes I did.....
and although I have been approached personally, apparently I may be one of 3 asked to stay. But until I hear it from the horse's ass, I might as well keep looking for another gig.
I had also applied for another position within the company and am hoping that might happen. If that one does, then I will be out from under Scrooge.

8. How sucky.
So sorry you're going through this. Makes me want to get revenge, and I don't even know who you work for.

9. You must be mistaken...
The economy is on fire!

My sympathies to you. I hope it's only temporary.

10. I'm sorry to hear that
these scumbags always seem to do their layoffs right before the holidays, so they don't have to pay holiday pay or Xmas bonuses.
Then some of them call everyone back in the middle of January.

13. The thing is....
we had a new hire start today.
Plus, we have been asked to train the people who will be taking our jobs. They (the ones we are training) are not happy either taking on the extra duties, and it will compromise the way they can do their jobs properly and to the best of their ability.

14. I'm sorry, Tripper.
I hope you still have a merry Xmas. I think the lesson here is that NO job is safe. Not high, nor low. We all have to go on the assumption that our job could be next.

Hope something better comes along. Maybe you won't have to work with a Ream-publican!

Good luck.

Yes, I know it's the end of the calendar year but that's no damned excuse!

18. Blame it all on the BFEE
Don't you just love em. They sure as hell wouldn't treat someone from Haliburton or Bechtel that way.
