I gotta stop watching those MASH reruns. I just saw the last episode of season 3. That was McLean Stevenson's last show, in case you don't remember.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go cry myself to sleep...

2. Tell me it's still a good show.
I'm not getting season 4 for a while; those DVDs are expensive. Did they bring in Harry Morgan right away after that, or was there someone else before him?

3. I'm not sure.
It's hard to tell if the reruns on TV are in order. But I don't remember anyone between him and Harry Morgan.

4. Yeah, I think they bring Potter in right away
The last episode of season 3 was also Trapper John's last episode, but he didn't get a sendoff. Hawkeye gets informed when he gets back from R&R.

5. Burns was interim C.O.
For two episodes, I think.

Okay, here it is, from http://www.mash4077.co.uk/index.php

Written by Everett Greenbaum, Jim Fritzell, and Larry Gelbart
Directed by Gene Reynolds
Guest Stars: Robert A. Karnes, Arthur Song, Shirlee Kong

Frank's dream is realized — he's in charge, but Hawkeye is unchanged — he skips camp, runs a blockade to find Trapper, who's gone, and welcomes a new surgeon, B.J. Hunnicutt. (1 Hour Show)

"Change of Command"
September 19, 1975
Written by Jim Fritzell and Everett Greenbaum
Directed by Gene Reynolds

Frank settles in as commanding officer, only to have a new one appointed over his head, one that to his chagrin fits in very well.

6. Speaking of Honeycutt (is it Hunnicutt?)
I was watching a re-run of an episode where Hawkeye is writing in his diary (the one in season 2 where they teach a lesson to a racist soldier). Anyway the show opens with these people playing volleyball in the background as Hawkeye sits in his tent writing in his diary. I thought the guy playing volleyball was BJ, but this was way before he was on the show. I wonder if the actor was an un-named extra on the show before he got the part of BJ. Or it could be that the extra just looks a little bit like BJ.

7. Not likely
By MASH's second season (September 1973-March 1974), Mike Farrell was already well beyond "extra" status.

You can check out some of the more famous guest stars here: http://www.mash4077.co.uk/guest.html

You reminded me, though: In the episode where they move into a cave because they're caught in an artillery crossfire, the patient who figures out how they can make a splint for him using two crutches looked rather like a very young Richard Dreyfuss.

And, yeah — it's Hunnicutt. You were probably thinking of former pitcher Rick Honeycutt. :D
