1. We had rain two days ago,
and I had to escort a few of them outside again after they came in ...

3. Ours are about done.
Paultry chorus's this year, again. Didn't hear one Upland Chorus frog either. Ten inches short of rain until this week. Vernal pond breeders around here have taken it on the chin more often than not for the past 20 years.

Happy Earth Day.

4. My best friend can't hear the peepers
He's partially deaf and that particular tone he just can't pick up. I feel so bad for him because it's such a wonderful sound. One day we were driving by a pond and they were just deafening. I said, "You can't hear that?" and he couldn't. So I stopped and we walked right down to the very edge and I found a place where they were so loud, it almost hurt my ears. And he heard them, faintly, for the first time in years.

The smile on his face was worth a million bucks. :)

8. It's very relaxing
I like to sit out on our back stoop and have a cigar and a brandy while listening to the peepers. Absolute heaven...
