Update on dumped dog- she has two offers!!!! woo-hooooo!

She was dumped on my road Monday. Due to my dogs hostile attitude and her attempts to eat my cats I was forced to take her to the animal shelter. I told the lady I would try to help find her a home. I have two firm commitments from people to adopt her. It looks like she is going to be living in western Kentucky! I have to go down to the shelter today and sign the adoption papers and arrange for a pick-up Wednesday so I can get her to her new home.
This has been on my mind all week- I felt like shit because she only had a 50-50 chance of adoption at the shelter. I know you can't save them all but I sort of felt responsible for this one as she was dumped at my house.

1. I'm so glad to hear this
I saw your original post and felt so bad because she's such a sweet looking little girl. Bless you for your efforts - I don't know how people can do that to animals, just dump them like that.

3. I had an offer first from a guy in Columbus, OH.
I really wanted to let him have her but thats a 7 hour drive from my house. The people in Kentucky are only three hours out. Jersey is quite a hike from Nashville!

10. Near Paducha.
Their family has a small farm out there, referred to his house as "St. Francis home for wayward dogs". Said he is down to one dog now and could give her a good home and has experience with dog training.

16. sounds great. Paducah is a nice little town.
You must not be too far from Nashville, if Paducah is 3 hours away.

15. Congratulations!
for you and the dog. I used to feel that I should take in all of the pets that were dropped off on our road, (we live on the same road as a cat animal shelter), until a mother Maine coon cat and her four babies showed up at our door, bringing the number of cats at house to 11. All strays.

I contacted the humane society, which is a lot nicer than the animal shelter, and asked if I could bring them in. Nope, not until the babies were weaned. But they would give me free cat food and litter if I could keep the babies until they were old enough to leave their mother....Well Heck Yaa!

Well, we had the best time with the babies for the next two weeks, my kids couldn't get enough of them. All four of the babies were adopted the week I brought them into the humane society and the mother was taken the following week.

I am so happy that your pup has found a new home. She has you to thank. Job well done!

19. Yup, California would be quite a drive!
I just couldn't be part of her death. I knew when they told me she had a 50-50 chance of adoption I could help up those odds to 100%. I was even considering building a kennel for her here and keeping her myself if I failed to find a family.
The family that is taking her has three boys and they love dogs. She is going to be a happy girl.

22. Do you have transport arranged for the dog?
If not, go to YahooGroups.com and search for pet rescue transport groups. I occasionally do some transport. But haven't for a little while now due to the high price of gas.

23. Im only three hours away.
The funny thing is I had a new response from somebody about 10 miles from my home after I promised the dog to the one in Kentucky. I told her she is next in line if the first one feel through.
