1. doesn't surprise me
I want to see it. I loved the first two games. They tweaked it a little in the movie though I know.

2. It's more fucked up than "In the mouth of Madness" "Lord of Illusions"
"Event Horizon" "Aliens" (director's cut)

And Texas Chainsaw Massacre
combined.

3. I suppose I *really* have to see it now,
But I won't see it alone, so I have to wait until I'm back home with my boyfriend.

5. A friend of mine described it as...
"A non-sensical surrealist industrial nightmare. Then at the end they tried to add story and it suffered for it."

I want to see it, but I expect to be a little let down. But anything described as a surrealist industrial nightmare is going to pique my interest.

And I'm a huge fan of the games.

6. If you see it, please let me know how close it was to the games. I just
saw it tonight and am very curious about this, I never played the games.

8. The monsters are virtually identical to the games
As are the visuals of the town. But as strange as it may sound, the games are far more intelligent in terms of plot and character development. The movie basically follows the plot of the first game except with a woman instead of a man as the protagonist, and the monsters are a collection from all the games. There are differences in the plot though. The cult of Silent Hill is something that is often referred to in the games but rarely seen, and when it is it's only glimpsed at. In the movie it's a huge part of the story.

Overall, the games are much, much better. I really wanted to like this movie but in the end I have almost nothing good to say about it. Very disappointing. Give the games a try sometime if you really want the true Silent Hill experience. I recommend starting with either SH1 or SH2.

7. I thought it sucked donkey balls
Okay, so the first half hour or so had some good and creepy visuals, as well as some really bad dialog and idiotic decisions made by certain people, (take for example, the mother that decides for no good reason to run from a policewoman into Silent Hill when she had committed no crime. I couldn't fathom why she would want to rack up a felony just for the hell of it), but it was all downhill from there.

I would like to add that I am a huge fan of the games. I've played every one of them several times over and gotten every possible ending there is to get in all of them. But this movie was simply stupid. The acting was atrocious, the dialog was beyond absurd, and the scenes that were supposed to be scary were comical. At the end I was actually laughing out loud in the theater instead of being scared or shocked. All of the supposedly scary and twisted visuals are nothing we haven't been exposed to in the games before, and many of them are ripped straight from them. It's like playing the games without any of the good story or psychological terror that made Silent Hill a household name.

A major disappointment. I've now officially given up any hope of ever seeing a decent movie made from a video game.

9. MORTALLLL KOMBATTTTT
"This is where you fall down."

If they just made the movies cheesey on purpose in the first place it'd be alright.

Except for Super Mario Bros.
