Poll question: When you find song lyrics which seem to summarize your life, how long
does it usually last?

1. I'm trying to understand just what you're asking here.
I don't get it

3. Several times I've seen threads that ask what song
represents DUers' lives. And I've often heard friends discuss their situations, commenting, "It's just like that song....."

There are times when I can relate closely to the lyrics of a song for awhile; but of course it never lasts because our lives are constantly in flux, while song lyrics remain unchanged by time.

I'm curious how long the average time is that people feel this relationship between song and self...

9. For as long as I can remember and probably for a while...
You're all that I have and you're all that I need
Each and every day I pray to get to know you please
I wanna to be close to you, yes I'm so hungry
You're like water for my soul when it gets thirsty
Without you there's no me
You're the air that I breathe
Sometimes the world is dark and I just can't see
With these, demons surround all around to bring me down to negativity
But I believe, yes I believe, I said I believe
I'll stand on my own two feet
Won't be brought down on one knee
Fight with all of my might and get these demons to flee
Hashem's rays fire blaze burn bright and I believe
Hashem's rays fire blaze burn bright and I believe
Out of darkness comes light, twilight unto the heights
Crown Heights burnin' up all through the twilight
Said, thank you to my God, now I finally got it right
And I'll fight with all of my heart, and all a' my soul, and all a' my might

Chorus 2x:
What's this feeling?
My love will rip a hole in the ceiling
I give myself to you from the essence of my being
And I sing to my God songs of love and healing
I want Mashiach now, time we start revealing

Verse
Strip away the layers and reveal your soul
You got to give yourself up and then you become whole
You're a slave to yourself and you don't even know
You want to live the fast life but your brain moves slow
If you're trying to stay high then you're bound to stay low
You want God but you can't deflate your ego
If you're already there then there's nowhere to go
If you're cup's already full then its bound to overflow
If you're drowning in the waters and you can't stay afloat
Ask Hashem for mercy and he'll throw you a rope
You're looking for help from God you say he couldn't be found
Looking up to the sky and looking beneath the ground
Like a King without his Crown
I keep falling down
You really want to live but can't get rid of your frown
Tried to reach unto the heights and wound bound down on the ground

Chorus
What's this feeling?
My love will rip a hole through the ceiling
I give myself to you from the essence of my being
And I sing to my God this song of love and healing
I want Mashiach now and it's time to starts revealing

Ever think about changing themesongs?

12. But it's also about overcoming troubles.

Actually I was largely unaware of the song until about 15 years ago, and it was like....wow....that's me. Also, it was made in the same year I was born.

The main thing is that troubles come my way (often my fault, but just as often it's bad luck), but I've always overcome them, and never let the troubles keep me from being happy.

13. Do you have lyrics?
I'm not familiar with it at all.

I'm glad you overcome your troubles. Suffering is an important part of life, in my opinion. Those who don't suffer end up cluelessly cold-hearted...like a certain white house squatter.

8. 2 - 5 years. I like change; I like growth.
If I'm still relating to the same song after five years then it's time to do something totally new with my life.

14. Look, when the name of the song is "Razor Sex,"
you can't blame me for trying to make it last as short as possible. x( :P
