Ok baby kitty people. Live blogging a birth this morning.

I adopted a pregnant sweet kitty in my garage about a month ago.... I wake up this morning and at the foot of my bed is a perfectly circular nest and a puddle. Mama is all wet, I'm guessing (I've never done this before) that her water broke. Oh did I mention it's on the foot of my bed in my grandmother's quilt? OF COURSE it's not in the box I made for her in the closet with old towels and a white sheet.

She's pissed if I turn on the lights or look at her (she growls) so I've got my coffee and a stiff shot of bailey's and have gone off to my computer.

I am thinking this is what daddies had to go thru in the 50's before they let them in the delivery room.... LOL!

My only similar experience was way back in 1978 when a pregnant stray adopted us. She too gave birth on my bed.

I ended up having to move out of my room for about three nights, btw ... you know how human babies have constant feedings? Well, it's not much different for cats, we found. I was in fifth grade and my parents figured I needed more than two hours of sleep a night. :D

She had a litter of four wonderful cats - we kept all of them and one lived to be almost 19. Good luck. :)
