5. A small, gray sparrow.
Beyond that it became a reddish blur.

6. Author is Susan Casey
and half the people in the book are from the PBRO, the shark observations there started out as something of a side project after breeding season.

16. Maybe not rare, but very cool for me...
A breeding pair of Swainson's Hawks, and last years offspring, moved into the Bunya-Bunya tree across the street from my house (my front porch makes an ideal viewing platform). Mom and Dad are doing the 'big nasty' every day so I suspect we may have new arrivials in a month or so. Crows have tried to run them off to no avail. Windy days are fun watching the hawks fly like kites in the sky. Oh, the same tree also has a breeding pair of Barn Owls so we have something going both day and night.

XemaSab, please PM me on your special find.

17. So what was your bird?
I saw a couple grasshopper sparrows on Sunday. I was surprised-not because they were there but because I knew what they were after all this time.

20. Congrats!.....no rare birds here, but...
...I watched a Raven and a sub-adult Bald Eagle have, what appeared to be, a fairly heated conversation. The Raven was pretty aggressive and got in the eagles face. The Eagle began to lose it's cool and the raven chose to remove itself from the situation.

Also saw a pair of Trumpeter Swans and the first Red Necked Grebe of the season.

21. Oh, and right before I found the Good Bird
I was scanning out over a wet meadow and I saw a HUGH bird... I couldn't tell what the hell it was... HUGH and black with a red patch on the wing. Of course my mind leapt to Harris' Hawk, but it was too big, so I ran to the car and got the Leica scope, and it turned out to be a big juvie Bald Eagle with a big red wing tag that said 37.

Good times.

...tagged, banded, and collared animals. Last year I saw a Trumpeter Swan with big collar around it's neck (#OT5), a matching band around its right ankle, and and a different type of band on it's left ankle.

BTW, I'm curious about your "good bird".
