Secret Service Plans No Action on Eminem Lyrics, Issues Caution

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Secret Service has looked into reports that rapper Eminem wrote lyrics that said "I'd rather see the president dead," but it doesn't plan a formal investigation, said a Secret Service spokesman.

John Gill, the spokesman, cautioned such lyrics can have unintended consequences on others.

"The Secret Service has no current plans to open an investigation into this matter," Gill said Monday. But "we are concerned about communications that can be interpreted in a manner perhaps not intended by the artist, and the potential peripheral impact that such lyrics can have on other individuals."

The Secret Service made preliminary inquiries because of lyrics in Eminem's song, "We Are American." The lyrics say "(Expletive) money, I don't rap for dead presidents, I'd rather see the president dead."

4. Eminem should change his party, he'll get away with threats

Like Pat Robertson talking about nuking Foggy Bottom, or Ann Cunter talking about killing liberals, and that other columnist who wrote about all the Dem candidates who should be "lined up and shot" (she said she was quoting from a letter)

Can't wait to hear the lyrics he comes up with about the SS visit.

Gave advice on his radio show on how to get a clear gunshot at Clinton.

Joe Scumborough didn't seem to care too much about that. But I guess he was too busy slaying interns then.

5. "Dead Presidents" has been slang for money forever

and I am sure the SS knows this.

Just part of the domestic terra campaign. Make them think we are everywhere, and doing everything.

7. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the SS had decided to

go forth with an investigation or charges against someone who has the money to fight them.
I'm no Eminem fan, but I do support the 1st Amendment, even when he's rapping about murdering his wife in front of their daughter.
