Are there too many blockbuster movies released now?
When I was growing up, there might be two in the summer. Star Wars, or Jaws, Batman, whatever, but there were pretty much only one or two.

I was thinking about this last year, we had Star Wars, Batman, War of the Worlds, Narnia, Harry Potter, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, etc.....

I remember really looking forward to whatever the big movie was, and having that movie be worth the watch. Not that some of these weren't worth the watch, but there were probably 10 I didn't even put on the list that were big budget movies.

What are your thoughts?

1. The only reason that Mission Impossible 3 is going to be big is...
Because theatres are making it big. They were calling it a blockbuster before it even came out. And at the local AMC movie theatre had all four of it's BIG theatres playing MI:3. They're making it big with their ads and the way they're touting it. If they would have touted Serenity this way, would it have grossed more money than it did? Of course it would have. Because most American Movie Goers are sheep and go see what the ads and the critics tell them to.

2. I don't think so
I think hollywood is trying to hit, all sorts of markets, and they usually hit me, with comic book movies. Like Batman, spiderman, and this years Xmen III, and Superman Returns. Star wars, star treck, MI 3, and most of the rest...nah, i wait until dvd, or borrow the movie from someone. Most comic books movies, I ch eck it out at the theater. This year, will mark the first time, i ever went to an opening night, of a movie release, and that is Superman Returns. I'm a big fan of old blue, and I have been waiting years, for another movie...

But the other genres, nah, dvd, or borrow. Last year, i watched one movie, in the theater, and guess which one it was? Yep, Batman Begins. This year, i plan on catching two movies, Xmen III, and Superman Returns....:)

4. Yeah, tell me about it...:)
I'm a fan, and its hard to contain the excitement...:) Know, i understand some of the things that those hardcore star trek/star wars fan's go through. Because, for the past two months, I have been reading/watching/talking/debating, a ton of superman stuff, including Superman Returns stuff...damn, i feel like a little kid...oh shucks..:)
