I'm tired. It's rainy and cold outside.

The idea of being in bed surrounded by my loving cats just appeals to me today....

I've been known to do that on rare occasions. I've told my boss that "I'm exhausted and not feeling very well. I'm going home early. See you tomorrow."

If your boss is reasonably cool he'll let you do it.
