Who makes cream cheese with pimento anymore?
I remember what a great taste that was back in the 50s and 60s, stuffed in celery. I would like to get it again to put on sandwiches. Is it still made? Does Philly cheese have it? I don't think I've seen it around lately.

And what is pimento anyway? Just red peppers?

2. I remember that
It came in a little jelly jar. My mom used to buy it all the time. I loved it on a Ritz

4. Despite my DU moniker I was born and raised in Texas
I remember cream cheese with pimento.

Recently, at my high end hair salon they featured little tea sandwiches made with cream cheese with pimento spread and turkey. They were great! I'd like to get the spread again.

5. You can still get it....
My mom still gets it all the time. Still in the small little jar. It's from Kraft, I think.

7. I'll look for it. What section do you find it?
I don't know if I could get it. Everything has gone so either upscale or really ethnic in supermarkets here, I don't know.

13. No check necessary.
It costs probably a dollar fifty and shipping will be cheap.

6. I LOVED that stuff - of course it's not here in Australia
so i look for it whenever I'm in the US. If your local store doesn't stock it, maybe you can order online ??

Here's what I found about pimentos from Wikipedia:

"The Pimento or Cherry Pepper is a variety of large, red, heart-shaped chile pepper (Capsicum annuum) that measures 3 to 4 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide (medium, elongate).

Pimento or pimentão are Portuguese words for "bell pepper", while pimenta refers both to chile peppers and to black pepper.

The flesh of the sweet pimento is sweet, succulent and more aromatic than that of the red bell pepper. These pimentos are the familiar red stuffing found in green olives. Some varieties of the pimento type are hot including the Floral Gem and Santa Fe Grande varieties."

10. Take the cream cheese bar and whip it in your mixer
until fluffy. Make sure the bar is at room temp. In order to fluff easier you might have to add liquid-I add the drained pimento juice. Fold in pimentos.

Some add minced onion, garlic and even Miracle Whip. Some also add shredded sharp Cheddar cheese while whipping the cream cheese. I've also heard of a bit of dried mustard added to it.
