This Music is Damned Addictive!
Edited on Fri May-12-06 04:15 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
"Peg/It will come back to you!/Peg/It will come back to you!/Then the shutter falls,/You see it all in 3-D.../It's your favorite foreign movie...."

Even Michael McDonald's *really obvious* background vocals on some of the tracks can't ruin Aja for me.

"I know this superhighway,/This bright familiar sun.../I guess that I'm the lucky one./Who wrote that tired sea song/Set on this peaceful shore?/You think you've heard this one before...."

Really, really, really, really addictive album.

4. actually all this talk about Steely Dan
made me run out and buy a greatest hits CD.

I have a lot of the old records, but it was fun to hear Reelin in the Years, My Old School, Black Friday and Bodhisattva ( a favorite of mine) again. Those guys crafted great songs that really hold up.

6. I LOVE "Reelin' In The Years."
AWESOME song...The guitar solo is astounding! I also love "Do It Again" and "Dirty Work"....There are some real gems on Can't Buy a Thrill.

11. actually
their early songs are amazing. I don't like the later, more popular ones as well, although they are wonderfully put together. I think Fagen has a wonderful wit and poetic style. His solo stuff is fun, too.

I agree about the guitar solos.

13. Peg has been a earworm for me ever since all this Steely Dan
trashing made me go out and buy the box set with everything they ever put out. If you don't want a four-disc set, the 2-disc "Show Biz Kids" is the next best thing.
