Thanks. Nice to be back.
What?
You were gone?
;-)

10 day road trip.
302 e-mails in my in-box.
295 junk, spam, forwarded jokes from friends.
I have worn "DELETE" off of the key.
:-(

U. VA for my son-in-law's 10th ann iv.. law school reunion.
We rode herd on grandson Jack while mommy & daddy attended the reunion activities.
His grandmother and I had more fun hanging with Jack than attending the 'grown-up' stuff.
He'll be four in June and is growing like a weed.
Smart?
Another Einstein.
:-)

While in Charlottesville, we visited Monticello.
And WHAT a visit.
My s-i-l is a Jefferson descendant, so we got to tour the upper floors of Mr. Jefferson's manse and INSIDE the fence at the cemetery (both off limits to 'tourists').
Fascinating.
It's nice to have friends (or in-laws) in high places.

Then on to northern Virginia "horse country" for a couple of days with some Dem friends.
Spent a day at the new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport, the companion facility to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum on the National Mall.
http://www.nasm.si.edu/udvarhazy/
Not to be missed, if you're an aviation buff.

Spent a day in D.C. seeing the sights, including the Air & Space Museum.
It is small beer, compared to the Udvar-Hazy Center.

Came home by way of Tuscaloosa and the U. of Alabama, my alma mater.
In 4 days they're tearing down my 100+ year old fraternity house (DKE) to make way for more parking by the stadium.
Can't stop progress, I guess.
It was fun showing Miz t. the location of some of my misspent youth.

Audio books listened to on the trek:
Michael Crichton's "Timeline".
A good yarn but waaaay too many 'cliff-hangers'.
Probably looking ahead to the movie?
Maureen Dowd's "Bushworld".
A collection of her columns, I think, but just fun to listen to her tear down the Bush** machine.

All in all a good road trip.
What'd I miss and how are y'all doin'?
:hi:

1. I love Monticello!
I'm a Jefferson cousin. His father's sister was a several-times-great grandmother.

I played a gig at Udvar Hazy back in December...great museum!

If I'd known you'd be around here for a visit, I would have bought you a brew! Glad to see you back! :toast:

3. I was near? If I had only known.
Our friends in N. VA were in their friend's borrowed house in The Plains.
Never heard of the place till we went there.

Robert Duvall lives across the road.
Raises longhorn cattle.
Didn't see him.
;-)

5. That's pretty countryside...
I've played a couple of weddings out there. I'm on the MD side of DC, near College Park.

4. Thanks. It was an amazingly laid back trip.
No scarey traffic stuff.
Nobody tried to kill us.
Nice.
