Skeptics of astrology, numerology and this fun hybrid of the divination arts known as "birthdayology" may skip this post. The following is taken from a book called "The Secret Language of Birthdays," which is a collection of observations (both rational and spiritual) about people born on each of those pesky 365 days of the year. It was based on a review of the birthdays of famous and notable folks throughout world history. (I've paraphrased quite liberally in hope of avoiding copyright issues.) The authors gave each of the days a name to capture the life themes of those who have it as their birthday. The Day of the Modern Irrepressibles is one day after The Day of the Natural Appeal (May 13th) and one day before the Day of the Dreamweavers (May 15th).

May 14th people are known to both quickly recognize opportunities in both the present and the future. Almost entirely modern in their views, they may even have only an eye to work squarely in the present. Some with this birthday display a total disinterest in antiquity and the past, and think of tradition primarily as a collection of bad habits. Perhaps not surprisingly, May 14thers are not reticent about breaking from traditional constraints, methods and philosophies in their field of endeavor. They have more confidence in their own feelings, notions and plans than what is written in "the book"--unless they're the ones to have written it.
Possessed of great nervous energy, those born on this day push themselves hard, seeking perfection, but also their need to eliminate all faults from what they do; this trait can be a bit extreme pronounced in some of them. In fact, it is a May 14th person's capacity for moderation that determines their success; those who can't pace themselves will wear themselves out, and their intensely critical focus will place enormous strain on family, friends, and co-workers (or employees).
Although tenacious and exhuberant, the emotional affect of those born on this day is somewhat low-key, and they can be private in regard to spirituality and their feelings about it (both in regard to their own beliefs, and those of their fellow human beings). Typically, May 14thers are alternately dynamic and contemplative; they are often described as "tending to run a little hot and cold." It can be difficult for those who live and work with them to know when to approach them and when to stay far, far away. If you catch a May 14th person in a bad mood, you will be sorry indeed. Those born on this day are not the most patient--particularly with those who misunderstand (or judge) them. They strongly prefer that work be done according to their own rhythms, which can alternate from lightning quick to maddeningly slow. Eventually, those born on this day should evolve into individuals who operate at a measured, easy pace.
Because they tend to be simply ahead of their time, May 14th people may struggle at the beginning of their chosen career, and even flounder when trying to find a career path that is best suited to their flexible, useful, but unconventional collection of wants, needs, and skills. However, they are not known for neglecting their need to be respected and valued on the job, and sooner or later others will begin to appreciate the importance and value of their work. It is likely to take both their coworkers and society years (even decades) to catch up to the May 14ther's innovation and impact.
When faced with daunting or intractable problems, May 14th birthdays usually try to combat them by mentally shrugging them off. They have a slightly unhealthy tendency to attempt to ignore most obstacles they encounter. Sometimes, they will lend an ear to critics they respect and will heed solid advice, but more often than not, this is not the case. When they can listen to critics, teachers or guides, especially those of the demanding variety, this extremely valuable to them; May 14thers who refuse to listen to advice about how to adapt their strategies, adjust their focus or alleviate their workload in all areas of life will run the risk of total mental and physical burnout as the years pass. May 14th people must learn that their energy has limits, as do their regenerative capabilities.
Numbers and Planets:
People born on the 14th day of each month are ruled by the number 5 (1+4=5) and by Mercury. 5 and Mercury both symbolize change, suggesting a dislike for both stagnation as well as extremities of impulsive or rash action. The combination of Mercury and Venus (ruler of Taurus) lends charm, grace and idealism to the May 14th person. Still, those born on this day must guard against recklessness and master spontaneous desires, yet also be open to gradual change when it facilitates their goals or dreams. 5 imbues one with a resilient character which can recover quickly from life's brutality, callousness and pain.
Tarot Card:
The 14th card of the Major Arcana of the Tarot is Temperance. The figure often shown on the Rider-Waite version of this card is an angel who protects and helps us stay on a balanced course. This image serves as an excellent life model for May 14th people. The card cautions against a variety of egotism and excess. More positively, temperance calms passions in order to allow for new truths to be absorbed into a person's life. However, it can also indicate a passive nature, ineffectuality or a tendency toward effusive self-defeat. May 14th people should resist blind allegiance to trends or fads, in favor of creating their own stylistic outlooks, systems of thought and designs for living.
Health:
May 14th people frequently suffer from all sorts of self-imposed stress. Placid settings and environments help them remain relaxed and work more effectively. Headaches, sore throats and neck pain may all be the result of stress--something May 14th people tend to internalize. If they are able to keep a regular diet and exercise routine, they will be able to avoid most major health issues. Foods such as grains, bread, and potatoes have a stabilizing effect on them. They should never rely on prescriptions to maintain a sleep cycle or a relaxed demeanor--at least not for protracted periods--safe and enduring stress-management techniques such as meditation and mental sculpting are better for them in terms of the long haul.
