My grandparents were told when she was born that she was the smallest baby to survive birth at that hospital.

My dad was also born in Chicago, but he was born at home. :scared:

So was my father born there.

So was I.

So was my wife.

We have no family in Brooklyn any more, but when I go there these days, I kind of like it. It would be a wonderful place to retire to.

The old homestead is still in the family...

I visited Latvia for the first time ever last month, and spent a day in this charming little town that my mother and grandmother and great grandmother called home. My mom passed away a few years ago, so it was an emotional visit.

during WWII. She spoke 7 languages and supposedly worked in the underground. I met her back in the 1990's and she was a lovely lady except for some very anti-semitic views that she occasionally proclaimed.

she was one of sixteen children, one of two sets of twins. In all my grandmother had one set of triplets and the rest were singles most did not survive infancy. Right now there are only three of the sixteen left alive. Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there.

but I would guess that my mother and I were born in the same hospital, too, unless she was born at home. She passed away in 1954 so I can't check. We were from a farm outside Wilmington. How about you?

my maternal grandparents were Presbyterian missionaries (with all the wacky fun that implies) and Mom was born at one of their stations.

my father in Merrut (sp?), India. They met in Korea, got engaged in Japan, and married in Scotland. Now they live in B.C. (the Okanagan valley). If they keep this up, they'll be right back where they started. heeee.

But she moved to Washington State when she was very young.

At home in my grandparents' bedroom as were all their children.

Lived in State College until she was 16. I still have quite a bit of family in State College.

Not in a hospital.

Mom was born there, my grandfather died there, I was married there, and my son was born there, yet none of us ever lived in Yolo County. :shrug:

I have great memories of that place. I caught my first fish in a tank by the small airport there in town.

Great little town.

all in different cities. Don't live there now, but I remember it as a very nice state. Lots of good memories for all of us.

both her parents are buried there; she and most of her sisters worked at the restaurant there, club 41 (my mom was named president of the itty bitty titty committee while working there, a title that certainly did not stick)

i hope to make it to visit my grandparents when i go visit her this summer
